Petite-Friendly Spring Dresses

Spring dress season is right around the corner. The requests for dresses for different occasions and everyday wear have already been coming in so I’ve started to round some up. Today I have a mix of four – all with a great petite fit. There are perfect for many occasions but for fun I’m going to share where I would wear each one.

My Sizing: I’m 4’10”, and my bust, waist, and hip measurements are 32″, 24″, and 36″. My inseam is 25″ (the measurement from the inside of my leg to my ankle bone). The clothes shown are unaltered and show how they fit me right from the store. I list my sizing beside each item to help you compare when shopping online. When referencing my true size, that is often the smallest option available at a brand or petite xxs/00/24. I wear a size 5 shoe.

Blue Maxi Dress

I would wear this dress casually, to church, and out to dinner. It makes me think of a summer night by the water. The dress is fully lined and is well proportioned for petites. The sleeves are a great fit and the shoulders are just right. The dress is a pull over style and the waist is elastic in the back for stretch. This dress is from Boden so it’s a little bit pricey but with Boden you pay for the quality – not the name – which is something I can get behind.

Lilac Dress

I would wear this dress for Easter Sunday, a baby or bridal shower – to name a few occasions. The skirt is fully lined and it has pockets! I wish the sleeves were smaller – if I’m honest- but I still like it. You can also wear the sleeves off the shoulder. The dress is true to size, I’m wearing it in Petite XXS.

Red Dress

I would wear this dress for date night! I don’t usually go for dropped waist dresses. They’re trendy, but they can make your legs look shorter, which isn’t always a good look for me. But, I also say – never say never. So I tried this dress, and found I like the way it looks on me. It’s an elegant cut with a high neckline and I found with a pair of heels, it doesn’t make me look shorter. For size reference I sized up in this dress to Petite XS.

Shirt Dress

I would wear this dress casually or to a daytime event. I recently made an order from Tuckernuck at the request of a reader. Tuckernuck has an in house brand, but they also carry other brands. While I didn’t test the fit of all of the brands they carry, I did try the Tuckernuck brand and a few options from Pomander Place. I found I loved the fit of the Pomander Place items. They go down to XXS, which works for me. The Tuckernuck items I tried were too big, but I will keep looking for winners! This dress is fully lined and the skirt is full and voluminous. For size reference, I’m wearing it in XXS. It also comes in red.
