Let me start by saying I still very much love my skinny jeans. I really hope people don’t stop wearing them all together because they’re my favorite. Last week I wrote about flare jeans, which was a blast from the past for many of you (me included), but this week I’m focusing on straight-leg and demi-boot jeans. The top question I get about wearing straight jeans – what kind of shoes do I wear? It’s true, the wider leg can be tricky to pair with boots, the key is finding the perfect blend of length in the pants and height (and width) of the shaft of the boot. I think it looks best when the boots barely skim the bottom of the jeans. Slimmer shafts on the boot are also more balancing with the wider bottom of the jeans. Of course, I think it goes without saying, flat shoes and heels also look great with straight-leg and demi-boot jeans.
Petite-Friendly Straight Jeans for fall
My Sizing: I’m 4’10” around 105 lbs. I’m pear-shaped, my bust, waist, and hip measurements are 32″, 24″, and 36″.
Madewell Stovepipe Jean
Starting with the easiest pair of straight-leg jeans to wear, the Stovepipe Jeans from Madewell. They have a slim leg that closely resembles skinny jeans, so you’re likely to feel more comfortable wearing this style with booties. They have a high-rise, that hits me at the belly button and they come in several washes. The dark pair is stretchier, while my lighter pair is more rigid. I find them to be true to size in my typical size at Madewell in Petite 24.

J.Crew Demi Boot Jeans
This pair isn’t straight, but they’re similar. J.Crew is one of my favorites when it comes to demi-boot jeans. They have a slim flare at the bottom and a mid-rise that is nice and comfortable. Their jeans tend to run small for me, so I often size up to 25 petite. Demi-boot jeans are the trickiest to wear with booties in my opinion because of the flared bottom. I am wider in the hips and of course, my legs are short so it looks a little bit squatty with boots. I personally prefer to wear flat shoes or heels with them over booties because it feels more balancing.

Abercrombie Ankle Straight Jeans
Abercrombie’s straight jeans are by far my favorite of the bunch. The distressing is not ideal for everyone, but I love the rigid denim and find the overall fit to be great. I bought them over the summer in extra short which is cropped even on my height. You may prefer them in the short length for fall to get a little more leg coverage with boots. They run small and I’m wearing them in 25 extra short.

LOFT Ankle Straight Jeans
This pair is rigid and fits well overall. They’re also the most affordable of all of the jeans in this post. Although they are ankle jeans, they’re full length on me. You can wear this pair with boots, it would definitely be on-trend, but I find it to look heavy and just not my favorite. I personally prefer these jeans with heels, but they also work with flats. They’re high-rise (slightly above my belly button) and run true to size. I’m wearing them in petite 24.

If you want to wear booties with your straight jeans, the overall winners in my book are Madewell’s Stovepipe Jeans and Abercrombie’s Straight-Leg Jeans. You’ll have to tell me what style of jeans is your favorite so I can style them more this fall and winter!
