Petite-Friendly Swimsuits and Cover Ups
My Sizing: I’m 4’10” and my bust, waist, and hip measurements are 32″, 24″ and 36″. My typical inseam is 25″. The clothes shown are unaltered and show how they fit me right from the store. I list my sizing beside each item to help you compare when shopping online.
Boden
Since trying my first swimsuit from Boden in this post – I’m hooked. Their suits are high quality and have little details that make them special (like slimming prints).
Halter Style
This halter-style swimsuit is true to size. It has a full-coverage bottom and is thick and well-made. I love the halter tie that I can tie up to not be too low-cut, but you can also tie it looser if you prefer a lower fit. This swimsuit also comes in other colors and prints.

One Shoulder Style
I think this swimsuit is beautiful. On their website, it shows the swimsuit worn on the shoulder, but it doesn’t fit me that way, (gapes down in the front when worn on my shoulder) so I pulled it off my shoulder. Again, I love the way it looks, but it’s not the easiest to move and swim in – this one is more for looks. It also runs a little large overall, so if you go for this one, l would size down. It has a full coverage bottom and is thick and well made like the first swimsuit.

U Bar Style
You may remember this swimsuit from my first post. I love this swimsuit all around. It has a great fit (true to size) and is full coverage on the top and bottom. The print is beautiful and it has a slimming effect.

J.Crew Factory
I prefer a one-piece swimsuit, but this two-piece style from J.Crew Factory is one I still feel comfortable in. The bottom has a mid-rise, which isn’t something you see often in a high-bottom swimsuit. I think this is a great option for Petites, especially for someone with a short torso. You get the high-bottom look without it taking up your whole midsection. I sized up in the bottoms to a size XS, which is something I almost always do to account for my hips. The top is a great fit for me, but would be a little small for someone who is larger in the chest (I’m a 32B and wearing a size XX-Small).

Cover Ups
Abercrombie
I have found some of the best cover-ups at Abercrombie this year! I’m just hoping I’m quick enough to share them before they sell out.
Crochet Dress
Speaking of selling out – this dress is almost all gone, but I’m still sharing it in hopes it restocks (or a similar option comes out). This dress has tie straps that make for a great adjustable fit that fits me in regular sizing. I’m wearing it in XS here.

Gauze Pants
As I’m writing this post, these pants are still fully stocked! I’ve tried several pants in this style (trying to find some wide-leg options for petites) and none have fit – except for this pair! They’re soft and comfortable with a slit at the bottom. These pants are a true swimsuit cover-up and are a little bit see-through. So, I wouldn’t buy them with the intention of wearing them as pants. I’m wearing them in Petite XS here. The crochet sweater I paired with the pants has since sold out (Abercrombie seems to be selling out quickly lately) but there is a similar option I will link as well.

J.Crew Maxi Dress
This maxi cover-up brings the drama! It doesn’t come in petite but works well for me because of the adjustable tie straps. Depending on your proportions and how you’re able to tie it at the shoulders, it may fit a little longer or shorter on you. This dress is also a true cover-up and is not intended to be worn as a dress. It is lightweight and a little sheer. It also dips down at the chest and on the sides to show off a bathing suit. I’m wearing it in XXS here.

Boden Gauze Set
This pink gauze set is such a pretty color! It’s soft and comfortable but does have a little bit of extra room on me. I’m wearing both pieces in a size 2 here, but if you prefer a closer fit, I would go down a size. This set also works worn on its own (without a swimsuit).

Linen Top
Although I love just wearing my gauze top over swimsuits, if you’re looking for a true swim cover-up with extra length, this Boden option is great! It comes in petite sizing, so although it’s still oversized, it has a closer fit than any other cover-up I’ve tried in this style. I’m wearing it in Petite 2 here, you can size down for a closer fit. It also comes in other colors!
