Maxi dresses are one of my favorite things to wear. To me, a maxi dress is elegant and classy. They’re perfect for special occasions and summer family photos as well! I have four different options today that would be great for a mix of summer occasions.

Petite-Friendly Midi and Maxi Dresses
My Sizing: I’m 4’10”, and my bust, waist, and hip measurements are 32″, 24″, and 36″. My inseam is 25″ (the measurement from the inside of my leg to my ankle bone). The clothes shown are unaltered and show how they fit me right from the store. I list my sizing beside each item to help you compare when shopping online. When referencing my true size that is often the smallest option available at a brand or petite xxs/00/24. I wear a size 5 shoe.
Ruffle Maxi Dress
The first dress in the post is an Amazon option! It is fully lined and feels more expensive than it is. I’m wearing it in a size small here and would say it’s true to size. This dress ties in the back, so I can tighten it to my size. Due to the tie, you can’t wear a traditional bra with this one. You can wear petals or an adhesive bra. I like to turn this dress around and tie it in the front to get it tight and then spin it around. I think this dress would be beautiful in beach photos!

Tie Strap Dress
The next dress is another Amazon option. When I pick out dresses that aren’t petite, I often look for things like tie straps or adjustable straps. You can tie them up enough to shorten not only the chest length but also the overall length of the dress. This dress is unlined, comes in other colors, and is smocked at the top. I’m wearing it in a size small, and I find it to be true to size overall. Due to the stretchy nature of the top and the tie straps, this one is easy to adjust to your size. I need a heel with this dress to wear it unhemmed.

Crinkle Dress
This dress is so lovely. It’s floaty, fully lined, and short enough to wear with flats or heels. I’m wearing it here in Petite XS, and although it fits well overall, I find it to run large through the chest. This dress has a crinkle texture and a tie at the waist.

Midi Dress
The sad news is that this dress sold out before I could even post it, but I’m hopeful it will restock, maybe even in other colors. This dress is a perfect fit if your measurements are similar to mine. There is no stretch in the top, so if you’re large-chested, that may be an issue for you, but otherwise, I find this dress to be true to size.
