After posting this one week of outfits post last month, I received several requests to put together a post with only casual outfits. While there were a few of you who didn’t need to be dressed up for work like a preschool teacher or a nurse, most of the requests came from stay-at-home moms looking to feel put together, but still able to move around.
I’m home with my boys part-time and while my toddler chasing days are behind me, I’m no stranger to a functional and still put-together outfit. To me, lots of layers and heavy accessories can feel like they’re in the way – especially during the summer when you may be sweating it out at the park. So, I focus on fit and comfortable basics that may have a little extra detail to them. I add a few accessories but I like to keep them simple, like basic hoop earrings and a simple shorter necklace, or maybe just stud earrings. The shoes are always flat – being on the go in a pair of wedges or heels is just not practical.
One Week of Casual Outfits
Monday
A romper is always a good choice for staying comfortable and being able to move around. This one is from Amazon and has a drawstring waist that makes it easy to adjust it to your height by pulling the shorts up a little. I have a jacket on top, but I’m wearing the short sleeve version. It also comes in a sleeveless option.

Tuesday
This dress is high on the list of one of the most comfortable things in my closet. I love it so much I bought it in three different colors. If you missed my review in a recent Old Navy try-on, this dress is 100% cotton and true to size (I’m wearing it in petite XS). It’s also long enough that you won’t have any issues bending over to pick up kiddos. Expecting mommas can also get away with this one for a few months. I styled it here with a chambray top tied around the waist and sneakers. I wanted to add a baseball cap too, but I’ve yet to find one that doesn’t come too far down on my ears.

Wednesday
Drawstring shorts are also really comfortable and this pair has enough room around the hips and back that it doesn’t show panty lines. Not being able to wear comfortable underwear with a pair of pull-on or drawstring shorts is a pet peeve of mine so I try to avoid it! I prefer a tucked-in top with high-rise drawstring shorts to show the waist, and this tank from the MWL line at Madewell is so incredibly soft!

Thursday
Simple denim shorts and top outfit coming your way. This is my most worn outfit combination for summer. The top is from Target and comes in a few other colors and the shorts continue to be my top pick for denim shorts this summer. I’ve been recommending them to all of my friends too and they all keep raving about them! They’re true to size, don’t ride up and they have a nice amount of room in the thighs.

Friday
I know jeans aren’t always a top pick for summer, but for those days you’re doing a lot of errands or sitting in your car in the AC a lot I love wearing a pair of jeans. This skinny pair from AE is always my top pick if I just want to be comfortable. They’re mid-rise so they don’t squeeze your belly and have a nice comfortable stretch to them. The ruched bottom top is from Madewell and I love the simple detail. The other benefit of a ruched bottom top is you can pull it up to give your top a tucked in look without actually tucking it in.

Saturday
Another really great pair of pull-on shorts are the seaside shorts from J.Crew. My exact pair is cotton and not available anymore, but they have several options available in linen! I wear these in XXS and they still have a comfortable roomy fit. Since the seaside shorts have a lower rise, I prefer a partial or no tuck with my top instead of the full tuck I mentioned above.

Sunday
I was having a day when I put together this post. My hair kept going all wild and flat – little mishaps kept happening (sunlight too harsh in the window, not recording when I thought I was) and I ultimately flip flopped Saturday and Sunday on my Reel. As I’m writing this I’m realizing my shoe is untied in the back also, lol.
I really wanted to just give up and try again another day, but there never seems to be enough time, so I just went with it! It’s life and not every single thing is perfect. I chose a dress for Sunday (Saturday on my Reel) that’s still comfortable, but dressed up for church! My exact white dress is sold out in petite, but last I checked it was available in other colors.
