I have my heart set on a new rug and mirror for the bedroom, as well as some wall art, but before I got to any of that – I just had to tackle the scariest room in my house – the playroom.
Playroom Design Refresh
The playroom was actually a last minute change when we were building our house. It was originally going to be an unfinished storage space, but we found the room in the budget to finish it off, and I’m so glad we did! However, it has never been decorated or really all that organized. We moved in and I made it the home to all of the boys’ toys. After Christmas, I tossed every new toy in there and basically kept the door shut so I didn’t have to deal with it.
Then there comes a day, when you just have to deal with it. So, I busted in that hot mess of a room and went through every single toy, book and puzzle. I pared down the toy collection dramatically – especially since we realized the boys had four large tubs of cars alone! PSA to my family, no more cars please! After we went through and lessened the amount of toys, I had to find a better organization solution than the tubs I was currently using as catch alls.
I went on over to Walmart and grabbed these four cube units, canvas totes and then happened upon Glade® Atmosphere Collection™ Fine Fragrance Mist. You may remember my post about my living room where I sang the praises of Glade® Atmosphere Collection™ candles, I love how they set that cozy mood in my living room and I’m obsessed with the fresh scents. So, I knew this spray was going to be the icing on my playroom project. The Atmosphere Collection™ Fine Home Fragrances by Glade® are infused with essential oils, and masterfully crafted fragrances, making for really luxe scents, at affordable prices.
After all of the heavy cinnamon and pumpkin of the holidays, I’ve been craving scents that remind me of spring and summer. Since I can’t burn candles in the boys’ playroom, I was really excited to give the room spray a little try after the room was all set. Nothing says fresh like an organized space, that also smells bright and light!
So, I used the cubes to pack away their collection of cars, trains, costumes and superhero figurines. Don’t let me fool you, their entire toy collection is not housed in this tiny space. I simply packed up the rest in storage tubs and put them in the closet in the playroom, to be rotated in and out. Then I hung up the wall art that I’ve been keeping stored for about two years and gave the boy’s chairs a good washing.
I was finally able to pull out this antique “A” that my husband bought for me about two years ago too – finally putting things to use! Nothing says satisfying like finally decorating a space, and seeing a mountain of toys, become a well organized and fresh space.
I spritzed the room with just a little bit of Glade® Atmosphere Collection™ Fine Fragrance Mist No.1 Enraptured™ to freshen it up. No.1 Enraptured™, has notes of jasmine and rose mixed with scents of pink lady apple and honeysuckle, all on top of cedarwood, sheer musk and clove bud. It’s a beautiful blend that’s really refreshing. The continuous spray is really powerful, so a little goes a long way, much like what you would expect from a high end room spray, without the high end price.
Now the boys have a nice and fresh playroom to build, play and create in; and I have a little peace of mind. One project mostly done. Now, on the the next! I hope to share more of my home updates with you through the year!
