Although I’ve included J.Crew Factory jeans in some of my denim guides, I wanted to dedicate a post to sharing some of my favorite fits and the differences between each one. J.Crew Factory is my personal favorite for jeans under $100 because they’re great quality and fit similar to the jeans I also love at J.Crew. Reviews are always the personal opinion of whoever is giving the review, so this post is just that, my personal opinion of the jeans based on years of buying and wearing these styles. As with all of my denim reviews, I’ll be including the rise and inseam measurements to help you compare how they may fit you. All the jeans in this post are high-rise, if you’re looking for mid-rise options I recommend checking out my recent denim guide.

Review of J.Crew Factory Petite Jeans
My Sizing: I’m 4’10” and my bust, waist, and hip measurements are 32″, 24″ and 36″. My inseam is 25″ (the measurement of the inside of my leg to my ankle bone). The clothes shown are unaltered and show how they fit me right from the store. I list my sizing beside each item to help you compare when shopping online.
Other items worn in the post: Top XS | Flats
Stovepipe
- Size: 24 petite tts
- Rise: 10”
- Inseam: 26”
The stovepipe jeans are high-rise and stretchy with a full-length straight fit. Since the opening at the ankle is wider this is a great pair for wearing with boots, sneakers, and flats. If you like stretchy denim, this is the best pair for you. Also to note, since they do have some stretch to them, they stretch with wear but don’t bag out.
Essential Straight
- Size: 24 petite size up if in between sizes
- Rise: 10”
- Inseam: 24”
The Essential Straight jeans are what I would consider a cropped straight style. My review of these jeans differs from the description on the J.Crew site as well as other reviewers. On the website, these jeans are noted as having a 26″ inseam in petite but in my size, they have a 24″ cropped inseam. Many reviewers note that these jeans run large, but that’s not true for me. I’ve owned multiple pairs of Essential Straight jeans and they have all bordered on running small. The jeans are rigid and very snug around my hips and waist on the first try, but they loosen with wear so I still stick with my true size. I also find that these jeans often shrink with normal washing and drying so keep that in mind when picking your size as well. The cropped length of these jeans makes them best for wearing with heels, sneakers that show your ankle, and flats. They’re harder to pair with boots.
Classic Vintage
- Size: 24 petite size up if in between sizes
- Rise: 10”
- Inseam: 25”
To me, the Classic Vintage jeans have a mom jeans fit. They have a slim straight leg and are an inch shorter in inseam than the Stovepipe jeans. They aren’t described this way on the J.Crew Factory website, but they seem to taper in at the ankle a little. These jeans have very little stretch and are also bordering on being a little bit too small in my true size, so I would size up if you’re in between sizes. Because of the slim ankle, these jeans are best paired with sneakers, heels, and flats but are harder to wear with boots.
Review the different fits of denim at one brand is something new for me, so you’ll have to let me know if you find this kind of post helpful! I will work to do the same for other brands as well if so.
