Short Story: A Petite Styling Service
My Sizing: I’m 4’10”, and my bust, waist, and hip measurements are 32″, 24″, and 36″. My inseam is 25″ (the measurement from the inside of my leg to my ankle bone). The clothes shown are unaltered and show how they fit me right from the store. I list my sizing beside each item to help you compare when shopping online. When referencing my true size, that is often the smallest option available at a brand or petite xxs/00/24. I wear a size 5 shoe.
What is Short Story?
Short Story was created by Isabella Sun. At 5’1″, she was tired of being excluded from the Fashion Industry, and together with a group of petite women, she created a styling service that caters to petite women and helps them find clothes that actually fit! Petite sizing refers to height, not size, so this service was created for women under 5’4″, and they carry sizes from 00P to 20P.
How Short Story Works
You’ll start off with Short Story with a style quiz so your stylist can get to know not only your style and budget, but your exact sizing so they can choose well-proportioned items for you. You’ll share all of your important measurements, like inseam, not just your general size! At Short Story you’re matched with a live stylist, not an automated algorithm so each piece is selected just for you.
Your stylist will select items from some of your favorite brands, and their exclusive brands that are well proportioned for petites. You’ll be shipped a box of 5-6 curated pieces to try on at home. Once you receive your box you have five days to choose what you love and will keep and send back the rest! There is always free shipping and returns.
How Much Does Short Story Cost?
The styling fee for each Short Story box is $25, which is applied as a credit to anything you would like to keep from the box. You’ll be signed up for a membership, but you can choose how often you want to receive a box within your style profile. Your first styling fee is waived if you sign up through my link here.
My Short Story Box
In my recent Short Story Box, I tried a few pairs of jeans from their exclusive The Fine Print label. No alterations are required with these jeans; they have a perfect petite inseam right from the store! (my favorite kind) The jeans are all stretchy and comfortable and well proportioned for petites. Here’s how each one fits me:
Wyatt High Rise Straight Leg
- Rise: 11″
- Inseam: 26″
It’s hard to pick a favorite out of the four styles I tried, but this full-length straight-leg pair is a top pick. I love the style and can’t get over how comfortable they are. Another thing I love is that my stylist chose a size up for me based on my measurements, so I didn’t have to guess or try on and return.
Lucas Slim Boyfriend
- Rise: 10″
- Inseam: 24″
Boyfriend jeans are a great everyday pair of jeans. This pair has a slim fit and is also stretchy and comfortable.
Lysette 24″ Straight
- Rise: 10.5″
- Inseam: 24″
This pair has a charcoal wash, which is my favorite of all four. A washed black that’s going to look great in my fall wardrobe. I also like that this pair has a slightly lower rise and a cropped 24″ inseam.
Odessa Slim Wide Leg
- Rise: 10″
- Inseam: 25″
I’ve embraced wide-leg jeans, but I prefer slim ones like this pair. These jeans have a 25″ inseam, which gives them a cropped wide-leg look. Like all of the above, they have lots of stretch!
