Review of My Personal Stylist Picks from Short Story
My Sizing: I’m 4’10”, and my bust, waist, and hip measurements are 32″, 24″, and 36″. My inseam is 25″ (the measurement from the inside of my leg to my ankle bone). The clothes shown are unaltered and show how they fit me right from the store. I list my sizing beside each item to help you compare when shopping online. When referencing my true size, that is often the smallest option available at a brand or petite xxs/00/24. I wear a size 5 shoe.
Short Story is an online personal styling service that caters to petite sizing! They carry a wide range of sizing options from 00P to 20P. At Short Story, you’re matched with a live stylist, not an algorithm, so they can get to know your personal style, likes and dislikes, and any budget preferences.
How it Works
You’ll get started with Short Story by filling out a Style Quiz. The Style Quiz will help your stylist get to know you! You’ll be shown different styles such as boho, preppy, casual, etc. – to see if they’re a match for you (maybe you’re a mix of a few). Then, you’ll provide your measurements, typical sizing, and budget preferences. If you have any special requests for your stylist, you can provide them in the Style Quiz as well. You can even ask to see the items I share from my Short Story Box with you.
Your stylist will then curate a collection of petite-friendly items for you to try on at home. You keep what you love and send back the rest.
Short Story Styling Cost
There is a $25 styling fee for each box you receive, but you set your schedule. You can receive a box whenever you like and can cancel anytime. If you sign up through my link, your first month’s styling fee is waived (so you basically get to try the service for free)!
For future boxes, the $25 fee is applied to anything you want to keep in your box.

I recently received a box of pieces for the fall transition! I paired a few of them with some petite jeans I received last month.
Monaco Cashmere Top in Camel + Lysette Straight Jeans in Charcoal
My stylist picked a fall staple with this cashmere camel sweater. I love that the sweater is short-sleeved, which is perfect for transitional weather! This is what I would consider an elevated basic. It pairs well with casual options, like these charcoal jeans, but also works well with workwear! The charcoal jeans are a favorite from my box last month.
Sylvanor Side Button Pullover in Black + Ponte Utility Pants in Black
Speaking of workwear – these pants are amazing! They’re stretchy and comfortable, like your favorite pair of yoga pants, but they aren’t form-fitted. They’re a great balance of polished and comfortable. Plus, they’re a perfect fit! I decided to pair the pants with two things that came in my box. First, a slightly oversized striped sweater. I wanted a laid-back option, and my idea of fall perfection is a cozy, roomy sweater! I paired them with flats here for an ultra-comfortable outfit for work.
Palma Short Sleeve Blouse in Teal + Ponte Utility Pants in Black
I paired the pants with a printed blouse for a polished option. I love that the pants look great with flats and heels. The top has a silky feel, slightly puffed sleeves, and a beautiful print.
MVP Faux Suede Moto Jacket in Olive + Wyatt Straight Leg Jeans in Medium Wash
A moto jacket is a classic fall layer, and I love this olive suede one. I paired it with a pretty dolman-sleeve top from this month’s box and a pair of straight jeans from my last box, which I love. This jacket will also be beautiful over dresses!
Lilou One Shoulder Jumpsuit
A jumpsuit is one of the hardest things for petite people to find. Short Story has helped me find jumpsuits in the past that have a perfect fit. So, if you’re specifically looking for one for an upcoming occasion, ask your stylist to send you any options they may have! This black one would be a beautiful wedding guest option. It’s comfortable and stretchy, and I love the one-shoulder style. I’m typically an XS, but this jumpsuit is a small, so it’s a little bit large on me. I know I could get my stylist to exchange it for the XS for me!
Short Story Petite Personal Styling
If you’ve never tried Short Story, I encourage you to give them a try! I met the CEO a couple of years ago for the first time and have loved connecting with her and her team at Short Story again.
