Simple Summer Outfits

Most of my outfits are simple. I wouldn’t consider myself a full-on minimalist, but I do appreciate outfits that are easy to wear without a lot of extra layers and accessories. Today I’m sharing four simple outfits for summer that are a mix of casual and elevated.

My Sizing: I’m 4’10” and my bust, waist, and hip measurements are 32″, 24″ and 36″. My typical inseam is 24-25″. The clothes shown are unaltered and show how they fit me right from the store. I list my sizing beside each item to help you compare when shopping online.

White Linen Shorts

This pair of white linen shorts from J.Crew is the best pair I’ve come across. They have an on-trend fit, are ultra comfortable, and have a soft lining that keeps them from being see-through. I find them to be true to size overall and wear them in XXS. My exact crochet top is low in stock, but I’ll also link a similar option for you.

Plaid Shorts

These plaid shorts are also from J.Crew and have the same fit as the shorts above, but are cotton instead. They’re fully lined and so comfortable. I also love them with the matching top that I wore in this post.

Denim Shorts

I first reviewed these Madewell denim shorts in this post. They come in white and denim, both of which fit best in a size up. I find them to be comfortable and I love the front pockets. Bonus points for the white pair, they’re not one bit see-through. The top is a basic T-shirt from Everlane. Their organic cotton T-shirts are one of my favorite basics.

Linen Shorts

These shorts from Athleta first appeared on my blog in this theme park outfits post. They’re a nice blend between active and casual wear – perfect for being on the go. I love the zippers on the pockets that give the shorts a little structure but also come in handy. I’m wearing them in XXS and they have a slightly roomy fit on me. You may wish to size down for the best fit. Another favorite from this outfit are the water-resistant sandals. I bought them thinking I would just wear them to the beach and the pool, but they ended up being so comfortable I’ve been wearing them casually as well. For what it’s worth I also wore them walking through the water and they stayed on my feet!
