I’ve been sharing a lot of dresses lately. I love to wear them in the spring and summer, but if dresses aren’t your thing, I’m about to shift gears – so stay tuned (thinking capsule wardrobes, spring pants, swimsuits, and outfits for work)! Before putting pause of dress finds I had to do a post with sneakers and dresses. Sneakers and dresses are comfortable and on-trend and there isn’t a wrong way to wear it. I prefer a simple, slim white sneaker with my dresses, but you could go chunkier. I chose a budget-friendly pair of sneakers from Nine West for this post, but I also love my Veja Esplar sneakers with dresses. Check out this post if you want to see a full review of my Veja sneakers.

My Sizing: I’m 4’10”, and my bust, waist, and hip measurements are 32″, 24″, and 36″. My inseam is 25″ (the measurement from the inside of my leg to my ankle bone). The clothes shown are unaltered and show how they fit me right from the store. I list my sizing beside each item to help you compare when shopping online. When referencing my true size that is often the smallest option available at a brand or petite xxs/00/24. I wear a size 5 shoe.
How to Wear a Dress with Sneakers
As I said above, there isn’t a wrong way to wear sneakers with dresses, it’s personal preference. But if you’re looking for ways to appear a little longer and taller while wearing sneakers and dresses try these tips:
- Choose a pair of slim, white, or neutral sneakers. This will prevent the appearance of a heavy line at your ankles.
- Wear them with a dress that is above the knee. The more skin you can show, the taller you will look. I’m breaking this rule with every single outfit in this post, but that’s because I don’t follow the rules. Pairing midi dresses with sneakers doesn’t make me look taller, but I still like how it looks.
- Choose a dress that is slim-fitting on the top and shows a little skin on your arms. You can do that with long sleeves by cuffing them to show your wrists or opt for a sleeveless or short-sleeve dress.

Petite-Friendy Midi Dresses
All of the dresses in this post are from J.Crew Factory. They’re all true to size and have details like pockets and lined skirts. I’ve said it before, but if you’re new around here – J.Crew Factory is one of my favorite places to find casual spring and summer dresses. I think the dresses work well with sneakers, but I will mostly be wearing these with casual sandals or flats.
