You can’t go wrong with a basic T-shirt and denim shorts for summer. Today I’m sharing a few options I found on Walmart that are petite-friendly and all under $20.

Summer Basics Under $20
My Sizing: I’m 4’10” and my bust, waist, and hip measurements are 32″, 24″ and 36″. My typical inseam is 24-25″. The clothes shown are unaltered and show how they fit me right from the store. I list my sizing beside each item to help you compare when shopping online.
Free Assembly Ribbed Crewneck
I find the Free Assembly line at Walmart to be high-quality and well-priced. The fit isn’t always perfect for me, but I appreciate the winning pieces I can find. This ribbed crewneck top is soft and stretchy and comes in several color options. I’m wearing it in XS and it fits me well.
Rolled Cuff Shorts
These denim shorts are cotton with minimal stretch. They rival the quality of my more expensive shorts. I sized up to a size 2 for a better fit through the thighs. There is still a little bit of room on me through the waist in these, but I think it makes for an overall comfortable fit.
Relaxed Cotton T-Shirt
If you prefer a relaxed fit t-shirt, this one is well made and has a great petite fit. Lengthwise it hits me around the hip and looks great tucked and untucked. I’m wearing it in XS here and it fits me well.
Sailor Skirt
I’m wearing this skirt in a size 0 and it has a comfortable fit. Perfect through the hips with a little extra room around the waist. This skirt is well-made and not see-through. I also love the functional buttons on the pockets. To be fair, this skirt is $22 a little above my $20 mark.
Raw Hem Shorts
If you prefer a shorter pair of shorts, you’ll love the 3″ inseam on this pair. I recommend going up a size for the relaxed fit like you see on the model on the Walmart site. They run a little bit snug on me in my true size.
