I would consider myself to have classic style overall. I tend to wear the same things year after year (with a few exceptions). Creating this summer capsule was very much like a repeat of last summer. Some of the pieces are the same and some are added in to freshen things up a bit and add items that I’ve had many requests for. As with all of my capsules, I will recommend alternate items as I can to hit different price points.

Summer Capsule Wardrobe
My Sizing: I’m 4’10” and my bust, waist, and hip measurements are 32″, 24″ and 36″. My typical inseam is 24-25″. The clothes shown are unaltered and show how they fit me right from the store. I list my sizing beside each item to help you compare when shopping online.

Denim shorts are a go-to for me during the summer. Last year I fell in love with this pair from J.Crew. They’re the perfect length, rise (if you like high-rise), and are really comfortable. Comfortable to me is a pair of shorts that don’t ride up and stretch a little so they’re not constricting on your stomach or thighs. This pair checks all of the boxes and are the pair I wore the most last year. I find them to be true to size and wear them in a size 24. I also love this less expensive option from Old Navy.
I opted for the same J.Crew shorts in white. They’re a great weight (not see-through) and have all of the same comfort highlights as the pair above. I find the white pair to run a little bit larger than the denim pair, but I still wear them in my true size, 24.
I added a polished pair of linen shorts for a dressier option. This Abercrombie pair has a great fit in my true size. They stretch some with wear and have a comfortable elastic waistband.
I searched high and low for wide-leg linen pants that fit me and really struggled to find a great fit. This pair from Splendid isn’t petite, but fits me the best of every pair I’ve tried! They are a little pricey, so I’m still searching for a good budget-friendly option as well. (I do have a 20% off code with Splendid: BROOKE20) If you’re a little bit taller you may like this pair from Old Navy and if you would like a chambray option, this pair from J.Crew Factory fits great! Striped Button Down – Petite XXS
This classic button-down from J.Crew has a slim fit with navy and white stripes. I’m wearing it in Petite XXS and it fits me well. I would go up a size if you prefer an oversized fit. This less expensive option from Old Navy looks similar. I tend to wear their button-down tops in Petite XS.
I almost didn’t include this white gauze top because it’s been in so many of my capsules already, but it truly is one of my favorite go-to pieces, so it stayed! It’s a relaxed laid-back piece that washes well. I didn’t include it in as many outfits as I typically do, but you can see more ways to wear it in last year’s summer capsule. I’m wearing it Petite XXS and find it to be true to size.
This flutter sleeve top is from Evereve. It’s thick, so not one bit see-through. It fits me well overall, including the armholes, in XS. This top from Old Navy is a less expensive option.
The white tank top in this post is from Abercrombie. It’s not cropped but is on the short side (still a tuckable length). I wear it in XS and it fits well overall.
The tan tank top is from J.Crew Factory and has a great fit and weight. It’s a standard length and also comes in white, so you may prefer this one over the Abercrombie tank top. I sized up to XS, it has a slim fit.
I always like to add one printed top to my capsule wardrobes and this time around I chose this floral printed option from J.Crew. I’m wearing it in regular xxs and it fits well overall, but does have some dip down in the arm holes that will show your bra. I personally wear a cami under it (I cross the straps with a convertible bra or you can use a bra strap clip to pull in the straps.)
A denim jacket continues to be my personal favorite summer layer. For this capsule, I chose a slightly oversized one from Madewell (I’m wearing it in XXS). If you prefer a slimmer (and less expensive) option, I recommend this one from LOFT.
I chose a white embroidered dress from Splendid for the post, but this white dress from Amazon would make another great (and shorter) option. The exact dress in this post is not petite but fits me well in XS. It’s fully lined and has adjustable straps. (You can take 20% off with my code BROOKE20 on this one).
Capsule Shoes and Accessories
I used a few different pairs of shoes and bags for the post just to give ideas. I would pick your favorites to mix and match in the outfits.
