Summer Workwear Capsule

Neutrals are a great year-round choice for your work wardrobe. To make this set a little more summer appropriate I included things like sleeveless and lightweight tops you can layer with and lightweight blazers. In total, there are 11 items in the capsule, and I created 17 outfit examples (but the possibilities don’t stop there).

My Sizing: I’m 4’10” and my bust, waist, and hip measurements are 32″, 24″ and 36″. My typical inseam is 24-25″. The clothes shown are unaltered and show how they fit me right from the store. I list my sizing beside each item to help you compare when shopping online.

Ann Taylor Sleeveless Mock Neck Top – Petite XXS

I bought this top last summer and have loved wearing it through all seasons. It’s a great layering piece that you can also wear on its own if your office dress code allows it. I find this top to be true to size (I’m wearing it in Petite XXS) and it also comes in other color options.

Ann Taylor Striped Short Sleeve Sweater – Petite XXS

I love the summer-ready navy and cream stripes and gold button details on this short sleeve sweater from Ann Taylor. It’s a beautiful top to wear on its own and to layer with blazers. I find it to be true to size (I’m wearing it in Petite XXS).

Ann Taylor Cream Puff Sleeve Top – Petite XXS

Any cream top makes a great addition to your summer workwear capsule, but I especially love the puffed sleeves on this one. The sleeves are lightweight, so they’re still easy to layer with, but they give a nice detail when wearing the top on its own. I find this top to be true to size overall (I’m wearing it in Petite XXS).

LOFT Black Sleeveless Top – Petite XXS

This printed top from LOFT is lightweight and also layers well. I love the ruffle collar and nuetral chevron print. This top is unlined (you may want to add a cami underneath) and true to size (I’m wearing it in Petite XXS).

Ann Taylor Navy Top – Petite XXS

I managed to choose tops from Ann Taylor almost exclusively for this post, without even meaning to. Overall they have the best fit and quality and I love wearing their tops to work. This navy top has a slim fit (slightly compressive). The fabric is ribbed and stretchy. I find this top to be true to size (I’m wearing it in Petite XXS).

J.Crew Parke Linen Blazer – Petite 00

My all-time favorite blazer, the Parke Blazer from J.Crew, has returned! The exact one in this post is from a previous season so the buttons are a little bit different, but the fit should be the same. The blazer hits at my hip and fits me well through the sleeves and shoulders, it’s the least boxy of all the blazers I’ve ever tried. I find the blazer to be true to size (I’m wearing it in Petite 00).

Abercrombie Classic Suiting Blazer – Petite XXS

If you love a modern blazer, this one from Abercrombie is a great petite choice. Overall, the blazer is lightweight and comfortable to wear. In terms of length, this blazer ends at the top of my thigh. The sleeves are a little bit long as well on this blazer, I typically wear them cuffed or pushed back. (How I push back the sleeves on a blazer can be found here). I find this blazer to run large and went down a size from my typical size at Abercrombie in it. (I’m wearing it in Petite XXS).

J.Crew Cameron Crop Pants – Petite 0

J.Crew Cameron Crop Pants are a classic slim pair of pants for work. They have a mid-rise and comfortable stretch that makes them comfortable to wear through a busy day. I find that they run small so I go up a size (I’m wearing them in Petite 0).

Ann Taylor Eva Pants – Petite 00

The Eva Pants in Fluid Crepe is the best pair of light/cream pants I’ve ever tried. These pants are comfortable, have a forgiving silky inner lining, and have a flattering fit overall. I find them to be true to size (I’m wearing them in Petite 00).

Ann Taylor Navy Skirt – Petite 0

I often wear dresses and skirts to work during the summer, so I wanted to include at least one skirt in this capsule. Although I didn’t photograph the skirt with many tops from the capsule (to be quite honest I just tired out after filming two capsules in a row) the skirt works well with both blazers and the cream, black, and navy top. I find this skirt to run small through the hips and sized up (I’m wearing it in Petite 0).

J.Crew Straight Jeans – Petite 24

I included a pair of jeans that can easily be swapped in place of either pair of pants in the outfit ideas below. To keep things classic, I chose a mid-rise, dark wash straight pair of jeans from J.Crew. The jeans are stretchy and comfortable. I find them to be true to size (I’m wearing them in Petite 24).
