Take These Three Steps Everyday For A Better Summer Shape

Rise and shine sleepy head!!  The sun is up and there is still a lot of summer living left to do.  We both know that while the summer season is jam-packed with fun, all of that fun definitely comes with challenges that, at times, make it hard to keep your appetite in check and your girlish figure, well, girlish. Traveling, day adventures with the kids, cookouts with the fam: all can take their toll on your shape.  But fear not beautiful goddess of the sun, today is a new day, and we have a plan to get your day started on the right foot so you can stay one step ahead of the craving monster.

Work it

Nothing gets your day started quite like a good workout. You’re going to get your blood pumping, endorphins rolling and your energy level soaring! We especially love an easy and quick HIIT (high intensity interval training) workout to start our day, like this one:

Eat a high-fiber breakfast

We’re sure you’ve already heard before that breakfast is the most important meal of the day.  Skipping breakfast can lead to overeating through the day. Eating refined, nutritionally absent foods will likely send your blood sugar levels on a roller coaster ride, leaving you with a low blood sugar and the need to stuff your face with the first thing you can get your hands on (which is usually also nutritionally inferior, perpetuating the cycle).

Cravings and poor food choices are much harder to ward off when you are ravenous. The best way to avoid unnecessary calories from happening is to eat a breakfast rich in nutrients that keep you in better control of your craving. One of these dietary supplements is fiber. Found in fruits, vegetables, and grains, certain types of fiber help support good digestive health. Some fibers have also been clinically shown to help you curb cravings, in turn playing the role of your side kick in the fight to maintain your weight.

Benefiber® Healthy Shape Dietary Fiber Supplement has taken the fiber from wheat dextrin (grain) to create a 100% natural, clear, taste-free, completely dissolvable (in most beverages) supplement that can help you meet your fiber needs when you aren’t able to do so with your diet alone, plus it helps curb cravings! This is especially helpful when on the go during these busy summer months!

If making breakfast just seems out of the question or you are on the road, make up a batch of these high fiber muffins to grab before leaving the house in the morning or to take along with you during your summer travels!

Recipe:

High Fiber Zucchini & Banana Muffins (makes roughly 18 regular sized muffins)

INGREDIENTS:

1 cup whole wheat flour

1 cup white flour

2 tsp. cinnamon

1 tsp. baking soda

¼ tsp. baking powder

1pinch of salt

2/3 cup honey

¾ cup brown sugar

¼ cup melted butter

½ cup unsweetened applesauce

3 eggs

½ tsp vanilla

1 cup grated zucchini

1 medium very ripe banana

1 rounded tbsp. of Benefiber® Healthy Shape per muffin

DIRECTIONS:

Preheat oven to 375 degrees and line muffin tins with paper liners.  In one bowl, whisk together first six ingredients while mixing the remaining ingredients in a separate bowl until well combined.  Slowly add in the bowl of dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, taking care not to overmix.

Fill muffin liners ¾ of the way full.  Bake for 20-25 minutes.

Each muffin contains 5 grams of fiber.  Eat two muffins for breakfast and meet 40% of your daily fiber need!

Plan ahead

Anticipate the day. You know you have to eat so have a plan ahead whenever you can. Know what restaurants are available when away from home and unable to prepare meals.  Think ahead about how you are going to handle the cookout smorgasbord.  Pack snacks and lunch for daytrips.  Add Benefiber® Healthy Shape to your bottle of water to sneak in some extra hunger-curbing fiber!

These 3 steps should help with keep your craving and shape in balance all through the summer season!
