So, a project I meant to embark on months ago has finally been completed. Remember the toddler train room plans? I’m just getting around to starting and my first project is a Mod Podge canvas DIY project I’ve seen all over Pinterest. I chose this lucky link as my guide and got to work!
One of the photos I took myself as planned and the photo of the triple crossing, which is one of the only triple crossings in the US, I snagged offline. The last photo I put together with a little clipart in photoshop and ordered some prints. Originally I was going to do 11 x 14 prints, but when I found these 12 x 12 burlap canvases at Hobby Lobby, I changed my mind.
So I started out with my three canvases, a foam brush, gold acrylic paint and a jar of Mod Podge.

I planned to trim my pictures down to 10 x 10 and have a gold border to tie in some gold that I’ve incorporated in other areas of the room. So I started by painting a rough gold border around each canvas.

After the paint was dry, I applied Mod Podge and placed the picture down, rolled out the bubbles and finished with a layer of Mod Podge on top. I let them dry and that was it, seriously so easy and cheap! I spent roughly $30.00 total on this project.

Ta-da! Now, I’ll share some of my other details in a later post, but I have to admit that a quick trip to Homegoods, led this momma down a different path and these canvases ended up being one of the few train details in the room, oops!
Thanks for reading.
