A new school year brings a new schedule for this little family of mine. Not only will my oldest be back in school (first grade you guys), my youngest is going to preschool this year! Queue the tears! The fun part is, he will be going to the very same preschool I went to when I was his age, many many years ago. The preschool director is still the same, and she remembers me! She said, “you were the tiniest thing!” Looks like some things stayed the same.
For the last three years since my littlest was born, I’ve only worked one day a week. I’ve worked for the same doctor since I was 17, so he treats me like family and is always flexible with me, which has been a blessing for my family. With my little guy heading to preschool, I’m going to be heading to the office more, which means I need more office outfits! So lately, I’ve been focusing my shopping efforts on building the office attire portion of my wardrobe. Well, let’s be specific, appropriate for my office, I can get away with white denim there. In comes this cute little peplum top from J. Crew.
J. Crew Peplum Top Two Ways
It’s no secret I’m a fan of J.Crew. I love to buy things I know will last, and my J. Crew things are well made, classic and last! If you catch a sale, which is the only way I buy things from there, it’s also affordable. This peplum top was 40% off when I decided to add it to my cart and I’m glad I did. The reviews sang its praises, with many ladies saying it was “magically flattering” and that comment turned out to be true. What makes it magical is the elastic waistband around the peplum, it stretches or comes in to be the right fit on anyone! The only part of this top that isn’t the best fit for me is the chest, because let’s be honest, I am lacking up top. So, I wear a cami under mine, which you can see in the above picture. For reference, I’m wearing the petite xxs.
The top is details galore, with scallops around the the top and little swiss dots all around. It washes well, and looks just as cute tucked into a (full) skirt as it does with a pair of pants. I LOVE it! Can you tell?
You can probably tell in these pictures, I’ve rigged the strap of my bag. Y’all can laugh at me, but it’s a temporary fix until I can get Steven to take a few links out of the purse for me. I do love this bag, and I’m glad I snagged it from the Nordstrom sale, but the strap is just too long for me! By rigged I mean I’ve hooked it up a few links, lol.

This new season will be a transition for us, and I’m not one to handle change all that well. However, nothing beats watching your little people learn, grow and become their own person. I’m so excited for them!
