Never one to jump on a trend quickly, wide-leg jeans took some time to grow on me. Or maybe it just took finding a pair I actually felt good in to be ready to adopt the trend. I first posted about this pair of Relaxed 90s Jeans from Abercrombie last month and since those jeans were so popular on my blog I went ahead with a part two with more styling options for cooler weather (whenever that decides to show up).

Wide-Leg Jeans Outfits Pt. 2
My Sizing: I’m 4’10” and my bust, waist, and hip measurements are 32″, 24″ and 36″. My typical inseam is 24-25″. The clothes shown are unaltered and show how they fit me right from the store. I list my sizing beside each item to help you compare when shopping online.
Petite-Friendly Wide-Leg Jeans
When it comes to a pair of wide-leg jeans my favorite is definitely this Abercrombie pair. They have a flattering high rise and slim fit through the hips. In extra short they’re a great length for wearing with flats, but if you want to wear them with heels I would go with short or regular depending on your personal inseam (they have a 27″ inseam in extra short). They are rigid and will hold you in, stretching a little bit with wear. There are also several wash options to fit your style. I’m wearing them in “dark” in this post. If high-rise isn’t your favorite, you may like this wide-leg pair from Madewell.
With a Trench Coat
A trench coat is a classic fall layer that elevates any outfit (even dressed-down outfits like leggings and sneakers). I bought this jacket from J.Crew last year and it’s an investment piece, but a trench coat is something that will never go out of style so you can technically keep it forever. It fits well overall (I sized down from my typical J.Crew size) and has a removable hood that will keep you dry in rainy weather. I’m still leaning hard into the ballet flats trend, adding metallic and leopard print to my collection!

With an Oversized Sweater
Throw all of the rules out the window this season – petites can wear oversized outfits if they want to. Does it look the same as it does on someone who is taller? No, of course not. But I think it still looks good and on-trend. I chose a cozy oversized striped sweater to pair with my wide-leg jeans.
Ways to add the illusion of length: Adding a half-tuck helps to accentuate your waist and break up the oversized look. I’m also showing a little skin on my feet with the ballet flats (that are close to my skin color) which helps to add some length to the look. If you want to wear a shoe that covers your entire foot (boots or sneakers) choose a longer inseam and heeled pointed-toe boots. If you want to wear sneakers, choose a slim style that doesn’t add weight to the bottom of the outfit.

With a Tucked in Cardigan
Classic fit cardigans are having a moment this season, especially worn buttoned-up. They’re definitely something that doesn’t go out of style in my opinion, but I think you’ll see more of them this fall and winter. The one I’m wearing in this post is from Gap and it fits me well in Petite XS. I wear a camisole under it to help with button gaping.

With a Simple White T-Shirt
A slim T-shirt is going to be the best for balancing the outfit, but you can also wear a relaxed-fit T-shirt as well depending on your style. I added a sweater over the shoulders for a little extra layer.
