When I was younger I used to be way too cool for a thick warm coat. I spent every winter basically freezing, walking around in uncomfortable shoes – I was crazy. I’m older and wiser now and appreciate just being warm and comfortable. It’s been in the 20s in the morning lately so I’ve already been pulling out all of my layers. Today I’m sharing a few of my favorites with you.

Warm Winter Layers
Sizing Reference: I’m 4’10” and my bust, waist, and hip measurements are 32″, 24″, and 36″. My typical inseam is 24-25″. All of the outfits are unaltered and I list my sizing beside each item to help you compare and shop online.
Puffer Vest
I’ve been looking for a puffer vest all season but kept coming up short. I specifically wanted one that was a little bit longer and not super thick. I bought this one during a recent J.Crew sale and it fit what I was looking for. It’s warm but is still relatively lightweight since it’s a thin puffer. It’s long but not too long and I love the gold buttons and zipper.

Puffer Coat
I don’t even care how puffy this coat is – I LOVE it! It keeps me warm in even the coldest temps. I’m wearing it in regular XXS. J.Crew coats tend to have shorter sleeves in petite and I wanted the extra sleeve length in this coat for wearing over gloves in snowy weather. It also has thumb holes to pull the sleeves down over your hand if you would like to.

Warm Work Layers
For wearing to work, I love this classic lady coat from J.Crew Factory. It’s dressy but still warm. I wear it in Petite 00 and find it to be true to size. These pants are also great for wearing with boots to work, I wear them in Petite 00 and find them to be true to size .

Wool Shacket
I mostly like to wear shackets with leggings so I love an oversized fit – but I fell for this wool one from J.Crew. It’s not oversized, but has pockets and is warm! Because it’s wool, it is a little bit itchy, you’ll need long sleeves under it. I paired my skinny jeans with chelsea boots on purpose after getting lots of different questions on more ways to wear them with skinny jeans. I would add a tall sock under for warmth and just cuff the jeans to meet the top of the boot. It would look better if my jeans weren’t as loose at the ankle and a tad shorter so less of a cuff – but honestly, I don’t think you should spend too much time worrying about something being perfect, just work with what you have.
