My first grader will not wear a coat to school. He will shiver his little self to death before he’s caught dead in a proper coat. His idea of a sound winter wardrobe, is a hoodie and a t-shirt. I chase him around the house each morning with the coat, and end up just stuffing it in his book bag praying he’ll wear it outside to recess, because it’s legit cold outside. As much as my mom self wants to think it’s ridiculous – he’s so much like me, I can’t even judge. My younger self was so concerned with how I looked, I would wear shoes that were totally inappropriate for the season, and would avoid wearing a real snowsuit in the snow, because it wasn’t cool. While I still do little things like that here or there, in the name of fashion, my older self is much wiser. Come winter, I’m all about warmth and comfort – and although I could really care less if I’m right on trend and cool, I do try to look a little bit cute most days. So, I’ve rounded up a few things from my winter wardrobe, that I’ve had for the last year, or recently purchased that I’m loving for both warmth and cute factor.
Most Loved Winter Wardrobe Buys
1: Pom-Pom Beanie
So, I was once too cool to wear a real snowsuit, I was also too cool for hats. Until one day I realized that covering your head actually does keep you a lot warmer. So hats are a regular part of my winter wardrobe now. You can’t beat the cute and classic pom-pom beanie and I love the fur on top of this one. I’ve also found a few really great ones in the dollar spot at Target for $3.00!
2: Chateau Parka
I mentioned in my last post that I ordered this coat on Black Friday. It was of course on a good sale, and I made it my birthday present to myself. I’m still waiting for my order to arrive, but I wanted to add it to the list because now is a great time to buy it on sale during the holidays. If the reviews are correct, this coat is both beautiful and warm! I’ll update you when I get that first hand experience!
3: Popcorn Cable-Knit Sweater
This classic cable-knit sweater is a little bit cuter with the addition of little pom-poms. I love how soft, thick and cozy it is! I personally went up one size in it, so I could add layers underneath.
4: Camp Socks
I mentioned some of the things on this list are from last year, and these socks are one of them. I purchased these last winter, on sale, and I have loved them dearly. They are by far my favorite pair of socks, and are warm and well made. They are on the bulky side, so a little harder to wear under a slim shoe, but I personally love wearing them with my Sorel boots!
5: Zip-Top Transport Crossbody
On top of all the coats and layers, sometimes I just don’t want one more thing to carry and deal with, so I love to carry a crossbody bag. My wardrobe lacked a black bag, so when I had a return credit from Madewell to use, I decided to go for this zip-top crossbody bag. This bag is a little smaller than the medium transport tote that I also love, but it’s really the perfect size for a crossbody. Big enough to hold everything you need, without being so big it’s awkward to carry. Watch for a sale, like I did, and get it for a great price!
6: Sperry Boots
Last year I bought a pair of Sorel boots from J.Crew because I was in need of a pair of boots that were made for wet weather. The boots I have are no longer available, but I’m sharing a very similar pair. Although my boots look nearly the same, my pair isn’t lined like the Sperry boots I linked. While I love my boots, and think they’re plenty warm with camp socks, I think this Sperry pair will be warmer! Every girl needs a cute pair of wet weather boots.
7: Plaid Scarf
Just when I thought I had enough plaid scarves, I saw this one and felt the need to have it! I love the color combination!
8: Tissue Turtleneck
I have two tissue turtleneck tops and love and wear both of them regularly! They are such a great layering piece, but also look just as chic on their own.
When it comes to my winter wardrobe, I’m all about warmth! What about you? Do you have and love any these pieces?
