Pepper Jack Turkey Burgers & Oh, Hey Girl! Link-Up

Did you do a little grilling this past weekend? We did! Nothing tastes better than a fresh grilled burger if you ask us, but, when we’re trying to keep our eating habits on point and still want to enjoy summer grilling, we turn to turkey.

Turkey is packed with protein and naturally low in fat. With immune-boosting nutrients like iron, zinc and potassium and a blank canvas ready to soak up marinades, turkey is a delicious, healthy alternative to your traditional grilling favorites, like burgers and brats. In the grilling recipe we made this past weekend, we added diced pepper jack to our mix and it was delicious!

Ingredients:
1 pound ground turkey
1/2 cup chopped pepper jack cheese
1 package mesquite seasoning mix
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
dash of salt and pepper
4-5 buns
sliced onion (for topping)
sliced avocado (for topping)
sliced tomato (for topping)
lettuce (for topping)

Directions:

Chop your pepper jack cheese and toss it in a bowl with your ground turkey. Add onion soup mix and salt and pepper to the meat and mix.

Form into 4-5 patties.Add a little thumb print to the top of each burger to keep them from shrinking on the grill.

Grill for 10-15 minutes over medium high heat, turning the burgers halfway through cooking. Cook burgers to a temperature of 175 degrees.

Pepper Jack

Top your burgers with sliced onion, lettuce, tomato and fresh avocado!

I use ground turkey in place of ground beef in everything-meatloaf, tacos, burgers…It’s so much healthier and leaner (if you make sure you get the lower fat content one). These sound absolutely delicious! Thanks for sharing!

We love turkey burgers, and usually put cheese on top. I’ve never thought about putting cheese right in the patties—brilliant!

I love turkey burgers, and this version with the pepperjack sounds wonderful. Good idea to chop the cheese up into little chunks like that–it makes it so much easier than stuffing one piece in the middle–trying that for sure!

I used to eat turkey a lot before I became pescatarian. I do miss it sometimes because it’s so lean and full of protein. The burgers look yummy! My daughter would devour them 🙂
