Something happened a few months ago that completely changed the way I looked at getting dressed, I discovered my body type. You may remember my post about dressing a pear shaped body. After writing that post, I came to terms with the shape of my body and started dressing for my shape, rather than dressing to look like someone else. Personally it has made all the difference for me.

I not only look better in my clothes, I feel better. Embracing that you need to buy curvy pants, instead of telling yourself you need to lose 10 pounds in your hips is a beautiful thing.
So, to build on that – I been shopping…y’all know I been shopping, and trying on endless pairs of work appropriate pants to find a few pairs that are not only flattering, but comfortable. To help you on your search, I’m not only going to share the winners with you, but what I didn’t like about the other brands as well.
Work Pants for the Petite Pear Shape
My absolute favorite pairs of pants came from one of my tried-and-true brands, LOFT. It’s no secret I love the LOFT, their clothes just fit me, and it feels good! In this post I’m wearing their Petite Modern Double Frayed Skinny Jeans. I know these aren’t work appropriate for everyone, but I work in a small office with a lenient boss who lets me get away with a little ankle fringe (or at least he hasn’t fussed at me yet for them). Whether you can wear these to work or not, I highly recommend these jeans because they are by far some of the most comfortable in my closet. Although I typically wear the curvy fit at LOFT, this particular style is generous in the hips and fits me well in the modern fit. I first mentioned these on the blog in a LOFT try-on, where I showed the green version. I own both now and wear them frequently.
LOFT Petite Pants
In general, LOFT has great colored denim, I also frequently wear a pair of black denim, and white denim to work from there. The only pants that didn’t work for me from LOFT are anything velvet or corduroy, they were too stiff and tight. I also don’t love the look of leggings because they fit is a little too close for my tastes.

Next, is another pair from LOFT, that is work appropriate in most office settings. These Skinny Ankle Pants in Marisa fit are comfortable, wash well and fit like a dream! A common issue for me with work pants is that they are too clingy in the thighs and behind. Nothing worse than trying to look professional and feeling like you’re showing your goodies off. Although LOFT’s pants have a nice cling to them, they are a nice weight, and aren’t super clingy, which keeps them from being too revealing. I always wear the curvy fit in standard denim, but in these pants I feel better in the Marisa fit, which is not curvy.
Ann Taylor also makes a beautiful petite fitting pant that doesn’t cling and looks polished and professional. I personally love the doublecloth fabric pants.
Skip List – Petite Pants for Pear Shapes
I told you I tried a ton of styles on, and in the end LOFT was the winner. I’ll tell you what I didn’t love about the other popular petite brands I tried, keep in mind just because they weren’t the best fit on my shape, doesn’t mean they aren’t great for you.
Old Navy Pixie Pants
These are very popular, and I’ll be honest, I have a few hanging in my closet, I’ve worn them a few times on the blog. I like the fit overall, aside from the fact they’re a little too tight in my thighs. However, what I don’t love about pixie pants is the quality. They’re great for a few wears, but wash them once and they really just don’t look as nice anymore. I have a few lighter pairs that I’ve been able to hold onto, because the fading wasn’t as obvious, but I also have a navy and a black pair that I was only able to get a few wears out of.
Halogen Ankle Pants
I first tried these pants in a trunk from Trunk Club and was on the fence about them. They had a really nice fit, and were fairly comfortable. I initially sent them back, but then requested them again after feeling like I should give them one more try. The second time around I ultimately decided they weren’t worth their price tag. The fabric is very stretchy, similar to pixie pants, and I didn’t think they would wash well. Since I didn’t keep them and wear them, I can’t personally say they don’t wash well, but there were plenty of reviews online that said so.
J. Crew Cameron Slim Crop Pants
I so wanted to love these highly reviewed pants from J.Crew, but they were not a good fit on me. The Cameron pants are very stretchy, and stretchy is not always my friend when it comes to work appropriate pants. These pants clung to my thighs and it wasn’t cute. I also tried these trousers and let’s just say they fit me like those bad juicy sweatpants all the girls used to wear. They where so tight in my thighs and bottom, loose in the waist and belled pretty dramatically from the knee. They look so polished on the model – not on me.
Where to Buy the Best Petite Pants for a Pear Shaped Woman
We all have our fit issues, if you’re shaped anything like me, it’s not only being short, but having some hips and thighs too. So, for me, the absolute best place to buy pants is LOFT! What about you? What’s your favorite?
