The basic t-shirt is something I bet you’ll find in everyone’s closet. Nearly every brand makes its own version, but just like Petites struggle to find pants that aren’t too long – finding a t-shirt that fits just right isn’t always easy either. I’ve tried on my fair share of t-shirts with armholes and necklines too low and droopy shoulders. But, I’ve also tried on lots of winners, which is what this post is all about – the best petite-friendly t-shirts.

Petite-Friendly T-Shirts
For sizing reference: I’m 4’10” and typically wear a size Petite XXS/00/24.
Since it’s currently spring and we’re going into summer, I’m going to focus on tank tops and short sleeve tops by fit.
Relaxed Fit
My top picks for a relaxed-fit tank top or short sleeve top are from Old Navy. I’ve tried several of their t-shirts and have loved them all. Old Navy is one of the few brands that carry petite t-shirts, and they’re also very affordable.
There are a few different lines at Old Navy that I’ve tried and have really loved something about each one.
EveryWear T-Shirts
The EveryWear line is simple and basic, one of their most affordable options. The tank top I’m wearing is under $5.

Luxe T-Shirts
The Luxe line is a little more expensive, but the tops are silky and soft. They also have a little bit of stretch to them and tend to have a roomier fit.

Vintage T-Shirts
The Vintage line is one of my favorites. The tops are 100% cotton and tend to be thick which I like. I have tried several of the styles, but one of my favorites is the tunic-length t-shirt for wearing with leggings and bike shorts. I also love their Vintage T-Shirt dresses.
T-Shirt Petite XS | Leggings XS Short
Old Navy t-shirts tend to fit me well in terms of length, v-neck, and shoulder width, but sometimes the armholes run a little low in a tank top. I tried to show all angles of the fit for you above so you know what to expect.
Slim Fit
When it comes to a slim-fitting tank top, I have a couple of top picks.
Brightside Tank Top
First, the Brightside tank tops from Madewell are great. These tops don’t come in Petite, but they go down to a size XXS that fits me well all around. I like to wear this bra from Soma with a tank top like this. You can cross the straps and make them racerback.

LOFT Perfect Tank
LOFT is another brand that carries petite t-shirts and I’ve found many I loved over the years. Their styles tend to come and go so it’s a little harder for me to list lasting picks from them. However, I definitely think they are worth looking at if you’re looking for a great t-shirt, especially if you want one with something a little extra, like ruffle sleeves. One style of theirs that sticks around year after year is the Perfect Tank. It fits me pretty much the same as the Brightside tank, but LOFT will often carry more vibrant colors than Madewell. The white one isn’t see-through with nude undergarments.

Target Universal Thread
Not all Target tops are petite-friendly, but most of the t-shirts I’ve tried from the Universal Thread line fit me well. They tend to be true to size for me and fit well overall.
