Trying to find a formal petite-friendly dress isn’t an easy task. There are plenty of options you could hem, but it’s always nice to find something that you can wear off the rack, especially a maxi-length dress. Summer Occasion Dresses
Floral Maxi Dress
I get requests often for dresses with sleeves and oddly enough, I feel like I don’t come across options with sleeves enough. So I was excited that both of the dresses in this post could deliver on that request. The first dress is a beautiful floor-length maxi dress. It’s unhemmed here and fits me well with a 3″ heel. The entire overlay is sheer and it has a navy silky lining that goes to the thigh. I love how this dress twirls and moves with you and it could be a unique wedding guest dress option. It’s definitely one that you have to see in motion so I tried to show that in the Reel that goes with this post. I’m wearing it in Petite 2 which is my typical size at Karen Millen but a size up from my usual size.
Mini Wrap Dress
I wrapped this dress all the way around and then realized when grabbing the link Karen Millen has it styled with it tied to the back. I noted in my story try-on that the hole to feed the belt through gapes a little bit, but in hindsight, I think that’s because I’m wearing the dress differently than it’s intended to be worn. (oops, personally I like it either way, but it does look dressier tied to the back). The dress is fully lined and silky satin and I love the paisley print. I’m also wearing it in Petite 2 and it’s a perfect mini-length dress for petites. I could see wearing this one to a casual wedding or a summer date night!
