Fall Craft: Boo Banner

The boo banner is how mr. toot (he will totally love me for that nickname when he’s older) and I killed an hour last Saturday, cutting out tiny bats and spooking each other along the way. I love the holidays, especially with a little one, because they make craft inspiration so easy. Of course, this project did require some non toddler friendly steps like work with the hot glue gun and an iron, but baby man, loved tracing pumpkins and bats and ‘helping’ me cut them out. I say helping which means he put his hands on top of my hands, nonetheless, when it was all said and done he was so proud to show his daddy what we had created.

So first, we gathered just a few things we already happened to have on hand.

1. Roll of Burlap
2. Orange and Black Construction Paper
3. Orange and Black Ribbon
4. Iron on Black Letters
5. Scissors and a Hot Glue Gun

Boo! Banner - Pumps and Push Up

We started out by tracing pennants to cut out of the burlap. I happened to have a pennant on hand that we traced but really, you can free hand that bad boy, no problem. You will need four total if you’re going for ‘Boo!’.

Then I drew some pumpkins and cute bats that toot was able to help me cut out. We used three pumpkins to go in between the pennants and four bats for each pennant

With the pennants cut out, we moved on to the mom only steps, ironing on black letters according to the package directions. I say according to directions because they will vary based on the type you use.

Then we strung the pennants onto our ribbon and laid out the bats and pumpkins. I reinforced the pennants to the ribbon with hot glue and glued down all of the bats and pumpkins and we were done!!

We hung it on our mantel and with a big ta-da, added a little October spookiness to our living room.
