Raise your hand if you’ve ever been told that floral prints look like they belong on your grandma, or worse, on her couch. I’m raising mine over here, both of them; I’ve heard it more than a few times lately.
As much as I don’t enjoy being told my attire reminds someone of a plastic covered sofa, I try to cut them a little slack since this season’s beautiful prints are reminiscent of decades past. The chances their grandmother wore a similar pattern, is likely. Heck, if Granny was lucky enough to save some of her old pieces, I bet she’s one stylish lady right now.
Truthfully, floral has almost always been cool. Sure, it evolves each year and some decades weren’t as beautiful as others, I’m looking at you 80’s, but each spring and summer, floral has it’s hay day.

The Look: Floral Shirt – Pumps & Push-Ups Collection | White Pumps | (similar) Safari Jacket | Boyfriend Jeans | House of Harlow Bangle
So, whether you’re rocking the bright patterns from the 50s and 60s or the dainty boho vibe of the 70s this season, I bet you’re beautiful and don’t look a thing like your grandma’s couch.

I’ve definitely had to warm up to the idea of wearing florals. The 80s did not help. But I love some of the updated floral prints now and it can look amazing when paired right. Your outfit here is the perfect example. Love the print on that top and the way you styled it is modern and feminine. ~Cynthia

I LOVE the 50s and 60s floral so much! Never thought about the Granny’s couch. Lol! Maybe because I was growing up in China and most of us didn’t have a couch. ๐ I am a big fun of floral for spring and still looking for my perfect floral dress and pumps. Your shirt is super cute!

I love your version the best, and that is how I would wear them too! I love pretty floral dresses on other women, but I always feel they look too girly on me.
Such a fun post Brooke and you look fantastic in that floral top. I think my favorite era of florals is the 60s. I just love the fit and silhouettes of most 60s styles. It makes me feel so feminine and not as focused on my bodily imperfections. Love this ๐

I so agree with what you just said. Most people think floral pieces came from curtains, sofa beds and from grannys. But as you say, if only my granny has something like those pieces right now, she’d be so fashionable at this time. I love your outfit. Casual yet classy with those heels ๐
Have a great day!
