When it comes to a beach vacation for me, I’m all about being comfortable and relaxing. I like to have enough clothes but I also don’t like to overpack so when I put this post together I built the outfits with what I would pack. I like to go with things that can mix and match with some versatility for cooler beach nights and dresses and rompers that can also double as swim coverups. When it comes to shoes I choose just a couple that can go with just about anything. I also keep my accessories the same too, which is something I do frequently in my posts, so that’s nothing new.
Beach Vacation Outfits for Petites
My Sizing: I’m 4’10”, around 105lbs. My bust, waist and hip measurements are: 32″, 24″ and 36″.
Ruffled Tank Top
I like to keep my outfits simple, but dress them up with little details. The ruffles on these tank tops are just enough for me to be a little extra. I sized up one in both the pink and striped versions to give a roomier fit. You can take a simple outfit like this and add a headband or a hat to change it up. The shorts are my favorite Old Navy pair that I shared in my shorts round-up!

White Shorts
This outfit has the same top and shoes as above but the shorts are the relaxed fit ones I shared in my shorts post. In that post, I showed the black pair, but the white pair has become my favorite of the two. They’re comfortable and loose enough that they aren’t see-through. Plus, that elastic in the back waistband is just what you need for a comfy beach vacation outfit. The shorts run large and I sized down to XXS in them.

Jeans
I always take a pair of jeans when I go on a vacation because you just never know when you’ll be hit with a cooler day. Plus, nights are often breezy at the beach so jeans are always nice for a little patio dinner in the evening. You could even say this is a day to night outfit from the shorts version above. I chose to pack the perfect vintage jeans I posted about in my recent post about Madewell jeans. My exact pair is now sold out in petite, but I linked another pair that is the same style, just a different wash and they have a raw hem.

Beach Sweater
My suitcase will also always have a sweater or a sweatshirt. I like that this one has an open-knit so it’s cool and breezy for summer. I also sized up in this sweater.

Linen Top
A linen top is versatile, this one, in particular, is longer so it can double as a swim coverup. You can tie it up as I did here, but you can also layer it on top of one of the tank tops above. My hat comes in different sizes which is great for someone like me whose head is smaller than the average person, for me, it’s finally a straw hat that doesn’t fall down over my eyes. I’m wearing it in XS. My glasses are also great for my petite friends, they’re oversized without swallowing a smaller face.

Beach Dresses
I also always pack a couple of dresses that can be both a swim coverup and a dress for dinner. I plan to write a separate post about swim coverups, but for the most part, traditional coverups don’t come in sizes and they’re always too big for me, so I’ll use things like dresses, rompers, and longer tops. Plus, I like that I’m not adding something to my closet that I can only wear on top of my swimsuit. This dress, in particular, is very twirly, the fabric is a heavier weight and the deeper split neck looks really cute with a swimsuit. The fabric is a perfect color match for these wedges!

The second dress is an Amazon find I bought in two prints. I first shared it in my spring color post. My exact print is sold out sadly, but this light and breezy dress works great as a coverup and a dress to wear out and about.

Romper
Personally, I don’t find rompers to be very comfortable, but I get requests for them all of the time, so I ordered this one with some of you in mind. Well, this romper changed my mind about rompers – it’s so comfortable! The drawstring waist is adjustable and you’ll really need to draw it in when you first get it, otherwise, you’ll be like some of the reviewers and think it looks like a potato sack (still not sure why they couldn’t draw it in with the drawstring). It’s called a coverup and it works great for that, but it’s also just cute out and about. I wanted to go for the white one, but knew the all-white romper thing would make me uncomfortable and chose this red color and I’m so glad I did!
