My son came home from school the other day with a big fat red lip. He said, “Momma, I don’t know what’s wrong with my lip.” Oh my sweet boy, that thing is chapped. Mine too winter is harsh, not just on your lips, but your skin too.
If I’ve learned anything about skincare over the last couple of years it’s that well moisturized skin is happy skin. So, when the dry winter air is sucking the life out of your skin, it’s even more important to go heavy on the moisturizer. So, I’ve rounded up a few of my favorites that I use throughout the day.
The Best Facial Moisturizers
Daytime Routine
I’ll start with what I use on my face during the day to keep it as hydrated and protected as I can.
Oil Free Antioxidant Facial Moisturizer
This lightweight moisturizer is oil free and full of antioxidants. Antioxidants restore and protect your skin, you’re going to want to make sure your skincare routine is full of them! I use this one during the day because it is so light. You can also use it twice a day if you need a moisture boost and anytime your skin feels extra dry.
Essential Solar Protector
Even in the winter you need to wear sunscreen.
This one from Skin Resource.MD is extra moisturizing. There is also a facial version that is tinted and blends beautifully under makeup.
Visibly Moist Toner
I sang the praises of the Visibly Moist Toner in my last skincare post. I use this multiple times a day: in the morning, in the evening and anytime I need to refresh my skin during the day. I spray this on after cleansing. Don’t forget to also use a gentle cleanser!
Nighttime Routine
Hyaluronic Moisture Boost
After cleansing my skin at night I load up on all the extra moisture I can. I’ll often use this Hyaluronic Moisture Boost Serum during the day, but I always put it on at night. Along with some vaseline for my poor dry lips – Maddox’s too!
Ultra Rich BioLipid Cream
It doesn’t get any richer than the BioLipid Cream! This one is heavy, so I only wear it at night, but it’s so good for your skin!
From the Skin Resource.MD Website: “Sea Whip, Green Tea and other calming plant extracts soothe visible redness and other signs of sensitivity, while targeted antioxidants control signs of aging that appear earlier than normal in sensitive skin. Revives comfort instantly as Merospheres (liposome encapsulated Rosemary) help direct the repair of skin’s protective barrier down deep, where damage begins.”
All that technical stuff means, it’s good! Try it, trust me!
Like everyone else, I’m already ready for spring, but I’m surviving the cold with all the layers and all the moisturizer too. What about you, what are some of your favorite moisturizers?
