Classic Spring Dresses

I’ve rounded up four classic spring dresses that are petite-friendly. These dresses have elements that to me are classic; floral, eyelet, and overall design of the dress. The dresses are a mix of day dresses and options that I think would work well for occasions such as Easter and spring graduations.

My Sizing: I’m 4’10”, and my bust, waist, and hip measurements are 32″, 24″, and 36″. My inseam is 25″ (the measurement from the inside of my leg to my ankle bone). The clothes shown are unaltered and show how they fit me right from the store. I list my sizing beside each item to help you compare when shopping online. When referencing my true size, that is often the smallest option available at a brand or petite xxs/00/24. I wear a size 5 shoe.

Floral Dress

First up is a blue and white floral dress. It is a stretchy fit and flare style and has adjustable straps. At Abercrombie I can border between petite xxs and petite xs – in this dress I went with petite xxs and love the fit. In petite xxs the dress is 43.5″ long from shoulder to hem.

Eyelet Dress

Eyelet is a spring classic. This mini dress from Gap is fully lined and the lining has adjustable straps. The buttons are functional and the waist is generous. In my true size it is a little bit roomy on me but I believe the dress is intended to have a relaxed fit. It’s a little bit sheer, but nothing a slip or nude undergarments can’t fix. In petite xs the dress is 33″ from shoulder to hem.

Navy Dress

I think this dress would be perfect for a spring graduation as either the graduate or a guest. I find the dress to be true to size. The straps aren’t adjustable, but they are a good fit without any gaping at the armpits. There is a little bit of extra room at the chest on me, so it will accommodate a larger bust. The belt is well proportioned to the size of the dress (not overly long with a ton of extra fabric when it’s fastened). In petite 00 this dress is 36.5″ from shoulder to hem.

Green Dress

This dress has a beautiful classic cut. It is overall true to size, but there isn’t any give at the waist, so you may want to size up for a little extra room there. The dress is fully lined and in petite 00 it is 38.5″ from shoulder to hem. It comes to a v in the back but doesn’t dip below the bra line so you can wear a regular bra with this onel. This is another option that I think would work well for a spring graduations!
