Continuing with my series of cold weather essentials, today I’m sharing my favorite time tested winter boots for snow, rain, and cold along with a few less expensive options to my favorites!

Cold Weather Boots
My Sizing: I’m 4’10”, and my bust, waist, and hip measurements are 32″, 24″, and 36″. My inseam is 25″ (the measurement from the inside of my leg to my ankle bone). The clothes shown are unaltered and show how they fit me right from the store. I list my sizing beside each item to help you compare when shopping online. When referencing my true size, that is often the smallest option available at a brand or petite xxs/00/24. I wear a size 5 shoe.
Sorel Tivoli V
Sorel Tivoli V boots are my top pick for a pair of snow boots. These boots aren’t just cute, they’ll also keep you warm and dry in cold snowy weather. The Tivoli V starts at a size 5 and is true to size, with enough room left to wear thick socks. I love the fur lined ankle that leads to a fleece lined interior. These boots are also walkable and lightweight which is something you don’t always find in a chunky pair of snow boots.

Columbia Moritza Boots
For a less expensive option to my Sorel boots, the Moritza boots from Columbia are a similar option. These boots are warm and waterproof, but not quite as warm as the Sorel boots. I find them to run small so I recommend a size up to be able to wear thick warm socks with them. The boots are shown with blue laces online but they comes with a blue and a tan set. Full price these are a little bit over $100, but I found them at Kohl’s where there are often sales and you can snag these boots under $100.

L.L. Bean Insulated Bean Boots
Last year I polled my readers for their top picks for winter boots and Bean boots and Sorel boots were recommended over and over again. One person doesn’t need a myriad of boots, but I bought two of the most recommended pairs so that I could review and compare them for you. I think the Bean boots are the best all around outdoor winter boots. They’re waterproof and can be worn in the snow, but you can also wear these casually. They come in a version that isn’t insulated and is waterproof, but if you’re looking for warmth, insulated is the way to go. They’re the most expensive boots in my round-up, but the quality and craftsmanship is worth the higher price tag. If you’re familiar with L.L. Bean, their pieces are well-made and made to be wardrobe staples for many years so this isn’t a pair of boots you’ll replace next year. As far as sizing goes, I went with my true size (they start at a size 5) and I can layer thick socks with them. They are fur lined around the ankle and insulated throughout. I also find them to be comfortable and walkable.

Nordstrom Miah Boots
The Miah boots from Nordstrom are an under $100 option that is water resistant and still looks great! These boots aren’t warm snow boots like the top two, but they make a good rainy day pair of boots with thick warm socks. These boots start at a size 4 and I went with my true size. The reviews noted these run a little large and I can agree with that, but I wanted the extra room for warm socks.
I styled these boots a few different ways in this post.

Sonoma Wedge Booties
Although the Miah Boots are already an under $100 option, these Sonoma boots are an under $50 option with a similar look. This pair has a wedge style and a slightly shorter shaft, but they’re just as comfortable. They’re also true to size with enough room for warm socks. The biggest difference is these boots are not noted to be water resistant like the Nordstrom boots.

UGG Mini Boots
I’m not typically someone to jump on trends, but I couldn’t resist the UGG mini boots. They’re not the cutest shoes in the world, but it’s popular to wear what feels like a slipper in public so I’m here for it. I bought my boots last year and mostly wear them casually with a pair of leggings and thick warm socks. They’re not a wet weather pair of boots, but definitely great for cold weather.

SO Lupita Mini Boots
There are tons of dupes out there for the UGG boots that have a similar look. I personally tried this $20 (and under on sale) pair from Kohl’s. In comparing the style, they’re almost identical, the shaft is just slightly taller. The exterior feel is similar, but not as soft as the UGG boots and the interior is soft and warm, but again, not as soft as the UGG boots. The diffrences are minimal, but the price difference is drastic. For a way to dip into a comfortable trend without breaking the bank, I think these boots are a great option. They are true to size and start at a size 5. I wear a size 5 but when I ordered them it was sold out, so I tried a size 6. I can still pull them off in that size up with a thick sock. So if your size happens to sell out, that’s an option!
