Petite-Friendly Snow Pants & Bibs

My Sizing: I’m 4’10”, and my bust, waist, and hip measurements are 32″, 24″, and 36″. My inseam is 25″ (the measurement from the inside of my leg to my ankle bone). The clothes shown are unaltered and show how they fit me right from the store. I list my sizing beside each item to help you compare when shopping online. When referencing my true size, that is often the smallest option available at a brand or petite xxs/00/24. I wear a size 5 shoe.

L.L. Bean Wildcat Bib Pants

For most of my life I’ve worn kids snow bibs. They fit well enough and they’re less expensive, but when I set out to create this post I wanted to share adult options that every petite could wear. The L.L. Bean Wildcat Bib Pants fit me better than any pair of kids bibs I’ve ever worn. The bibs come in petite so they’re a great length. The difference comes in to the overall fit of the bibs. They’re slim through the legs, so I’m not totally lost in them like I am in my old bibs. I love the velcro band at the waist that draws the waist in and out and the overall slim fit and the multiple zippered pockets. They also have zippers at the bottom of the legs if you want to let them out. I prefer bibs over pants because they keep the snow off of you and I don’t have to worry about the pants slipping down when I walk. So for me, this pair is my top pick from the post. For size reference I’m wearing these in Petite XXS and find them to be true to size overall.

REI Powderbound Pants

REI offers petite sizing in their snow pants and also their base layers, so it’s a great place to check for petite winter gear. The Powderbound Pants are a great length, but are a little roomy on me through the waist and legs. Of course, you want a little extra room for layering in the snow, but I feel like these are slipping down when I walk. So, I recommend a size down for the best fit here. There are velcro tabs on the inside of the waist to draw them in as well. For size reference I’m wearing them here in Petite XS. They have a zipper and button closure, but they dont’ have any zippers or buttons at the bottom of the leg.

Columbia Bugaboo II Pants

Columbia Bugaboo II Pants fit similarly to the REI pair but if I’m picking favorites between the two – I would choose this pair. The Bugaboo pants come in short, which is a great length. The waist is loose on this pair as well (great for layering) but the interior velcro at the waist holds better on this pair than the REI pain. Another plus for the Columbia pants is the Omniheat lining. The lining makes for a warm pair of pants without a lot of extra bulk. Similar to this coat from Columbia that I love as well. The columbia pants have zipper pockets and buttons at the bottom of the leg so you can let them in and out.
