I’ve been waking up to crisp fall-like mornings lately—perfect for a light jacket. The light-layer days of fall are right around the corner, and today, I’m rounding up a few petite-friendly finds to take you from early to late fall.

Petite-Friendly Fall Jackets
My Sizing: I’m 4’10”, and my bust, waist, and hip measurements are 32″, 24″, and 36″. My inseam is 25″ (the measurement from the inside of my leg to my ankle bone). The clothes shown are unaltered and show how they fit me right from the store. I list my sizing beside each item to help you compare when shopping online. When referencing my true size, that is often the smallest option available at a brand or petite xxs/00/24. I wear a size 5 shoe.
I set out to find a jacket for different styles and occasions. Some of us live a more casual lifestyle, and others want options that are more dressed up. So, I found one for both styles and a little in-between.
L.L. Bean Cozy Quilted Jacket
I fell in love with L.L. Bean coats last winter when I wrote this post about winter essentials. I had been ignoring their petites until several readers recommended I give them a try for winter coats. Their coats are high-quality, and the fit is spot on. I’m wearing this quilted jacket in petite XS, and it is perfect all around. It fits through the shoulders and sleeves and has enough room to layer. The jacket has buttons for closure but no zipper and zippered pockets. This jacket is lightweight but especially layered, will keep you warm into winter. I layered the jacket with a sweater fleece pullover from L.L. Bean. I’m wearing the pullover in petite xs. It fits true to size and is surprisingly warm despite being lightweight.

Athleta Featherless Puffer
If you love to wear activewear, this may be a great jacket for you. The Athleta Featherless Puffer is lightweight but warm. I love that this jacket is longer in the back than the front, making it perfect for pairing with leggings. The jacket has a zipper closure and zippered pockets. I’m wearing it in petite XXS and find it to fit true to size.

Utility Jacket
Utility jackets are back, and I love the slightly oversized fit of this Abercrombie jacket. It’s been featured in many of my recent posts, so if you’ve already read those, you know the drill. The jacket is oversized and doesn’t come in petite, but I love it! You will need to cuff the sleeves if you’re petite, but it works. I love that this jacket can be paired with leggings and jeans. Unlike some of my utility jackets from past years, this one is lined and warm. Before you ask, my exact boots are from last year – I’m still working on current options for this year.

Daphne Topcoat
J.Crew returned one of my favorite fall topcoats from last season with a few updates. The Daphne Topcoat is unlined, so it’s lightweight – but the tightly knit boiled wool keeps you warm. This coat fits true to size overall and has a perfect fit through the sleeves and shoulders. But it’s still roomy enough to layer sweaters underneath. The coat I’m wearing here is from last season, so the color is slightly different than this year’s version. The current season Daphne Topcoat also has two buttons instead of one.

This coat is the current season of the Daphne coat. I’m wearing it here in Petite 0 instead of Petite 00, but 00 is a better fit for me. I love this deep green that can be just as neutral as camel – I’ll be including this coat in my upcoming fall capsule.

Stowe Puffer Jacket
The Stowe Puffer Jacket is a hybrid fall jacket, in my opinion. It’s thicker than a lightweight jacket but not quite as heavy as a winter puffer. I do think this jacket can take you through winter if you live somewhere other than the extra cold and snowy areas of the US. The jacket has a removable hood, corduroy collar, and a great petite fit. I’m wearing it here in my true size, Petite 00. The coat has a zipper and button closure with buttoned pockets.
