Back-to-school season is officially here. Summer always flies by and those back-to-school shopping lists always seem to get a little longer each year. As long as they may seem, just remember that teachers often have an even longer list.

Teacher’s Classroom Costs

One of my good friends is a kindergarten teacher and she has shown me a side of teachers that I didn’t know existed. The side that buys school supplies for kids who come to school without – and out of their very own wallets.

School budgets are tight, but teachers’ hearts are big – so they often make sacrifices to ensure their students are successful. Not only do they buy extra supplies for the kids who don’t have any (which is common in our county), they also replenish classroom supplies when they run out.

My son’s kindergarten teacher bought him a new pencil box when his broke. She never asked me to get him a new one, and I was completely clueless. She just stepped in and gave him what he needed. Teachers are always going above and beyond.

So, this year I’m making an effort to help offset some of the costs of supplies for my son’s teachers by donating extras. Starting with buying extras of the supplies on his list, we also picked up a 10 pack of Kleenex® Facial Tissue at Costco.

These packs are designed to give more, with 10 large boxes that have 43% more tissues per box than the best-selling Kleenex® Facial Tissue box in rest of market.

Costco members can save $4.50 on the Kleenex® bundle pack from 8/7 – 9/1, online and in store, and the discount will be reflected at checkout. I know teachers are always going through Kleenex® Facial Tissue like crazy, so I’m hoping our donation will serve their classrooms well.

What Else Can You Donate?

The typical supplies like glue, and crayons are always great to donate. I asked my teacher friend for input on common supplies she goes through quickly and she recommended a few other options:

  • laminating pouches
  • cardstock
  • dry erase markers
  • permanent markers

In addition, to making donations, little notes of gratitude to start a new school year never hurt either.

Teachers are incredible people that do an incredible job. I’m always amazed by the things my boys learn and experience each year with their teachers.

Donating extra supplies is just a small gesture that I hope is helpful and supportive to the team that invests so much into my children.
