Healthy is Beautiful

Happy Wednesday! I almost said hump day, but I’m not feeling that cheesy at the moment. Since it has been a while since my last outfit inspiration post, I thought I would share today’s attire. Yes, not on me, but you catch my drift ;).

I love helping other women get fit and stay fit. Whenever I speak with someone new a common theme is their desire to have a certain body type and following that is their disappointment when continued fitness and healthy eating don’t produce those results. Well, while we are all capable of leaning out and building muscle, we are all different shapes! Some girls will have a ripped six pack, others won’t. Some are tall with long torsos, others are short and a little square (like me ;)) Let’s not forget the curvy girls, who were blessed with big hips and a plump booty, no matter how many squats I do, I doubt I’ll ever be as curvy as Kim K. What I hope for all of my challengers is that they will find the beauty in their own fitness. I want them to find role models that are like them, so they aren’t chasing a Giselle like body with Eva Longoria genes. Be you and own it!!

The other thing I want to squash is the desire to just be thin. With the desire to be thin comes starvation which is seriously unhealthy and not effective. I’ve mentioned before, but I’ll say it again, starvation damages your metabolism. You may lose weight, but you will not have lasting results, plus skinny is not nearly as attractive as fit! A quick instagram hashtag search for #weightloss brought me to the scary world of glorified eating disorders. I came across several accounts glorifying being #bony and #ana (anorexic), one comment I came across was a girl upset that her grandmother forced her to eat. You should never, ever, be afraid to eat. We need food to fuel our bodies and our health. Many women I speak with say, they will try their workouts, but they  love their food. Being healthy is not about cutting out food. You should never go hungry!

I asked everyone to share this picture on their instagram and/or facebook and tag me @pumpsandpushups.

On Saturday morning, I will pick two at random, one from Instagram and one from Facebook and send them a pair of the bow earrings pictured above. So please be apart of spreading awareness for health! I want women to feel empowered and great in their own skin. If you’re not already following me on either they can be found here: Instagram & Facebook
