Kick crop jeans we’re not high on my love list when I first saw them. Growing up in the age of flare jeans, seeing them cropped above the ankle looked like someone was rocking high waters and needed to ask their momma for a new pair of jeans.
However, I’ve been seeing more and more of these kick crop styles and they’ve started to grow on me. It seems to be that this year I’m stepping away from my skinnies more and more (although not completely) and opting to try new styles. So, when Madewell ran their denim sale the other week, I decided it was a good time to give the kick crops a try. If anyone can make a pair of jeans in any style that fits me well – it’s Madewell.
The white pair I chose is incredibly well made. It is probably the heaviest denim I own from Madewell and it tucks and holds in all the right places. These jeans are flattering! Plus, they are not one bit see through, not one bit! I styled them with flats and heels, but I personally prefer them with heels on my petite frame. This pair hits me right above my ankle, but I’ve seen kick crops worn a little higher on other girls, so I think this pair would be flattering on any petite girl whether you’re 4’10” like me or more like 5’3″.

With Chambray
I started to think, would it be too redundant if I styled my chambray shirt in yet another style video? Then I decided, nope, it just shows how versatile this top is. In my video I also layered it under my sweater blazer, which has been done many, many times, but I love the color combination and I wanted to show that the blazer looks great with kick crops.

Same shoes, but I opted for a close fit white tank top and layered it with a cargo jacket. White and olive is a pretty combination to me, but this same outfit would look great with a denim jacket, or blazer – really any topper would go great on this all white base.

Casual With Tie-Dye
Tie-dye has become one my favorite trends of the season. It is just so bright and fun, just what we need this summer! I’ve seen some pretty crazy expensive tie-dye tops, but this one is only $8! I cuffed the sleeves on mine because the sleeves are a little long on me. That may sound strange for a short sleeve top, but something about the length of them made me feel like I looked wider in the shoulders.

Simple With Navy
This outfit is simple, but I love it. The pretty sleeves on this top have just enough detail to dress up the outfit. I would wear the shoes pictured or my Steve Madden slides with this one!

When I put this to a vote on Instagram, the kick crops won a majority vote for the next style session. However, some of you sent me DMs like, “what are kick crops?!” So maybe, I’m introducing you to something new or maybe you’re already loving them yourself. The kick crops may need to grow on you – but I think it’s a fun trend to try!
