Linen Dress

Life isn’t perfect and neither is a linen dress.

J. Crew Factory Linen Dress

I bought this dress during my mad hunt for a coral dress for my friend’s bachelorette party. We have a dress code; coral dresses. Can I tell you how hard it is to find a solid coral dress, that actually fits me?!  I ordered this dress from J. Crew Factory, knowing it was going to be a little wrinkly because it’s linen. I tried it on, the dress fit well, the straps were adjustable and all that jazz, I thought I was good to go. However, after I sat in the car and then took these pictures, the dress wasn’t just wrinkly, it was wrankly. My husband was appalled. I told him he just wasn’t appreciating all that is linen. Linen wrinkles, that’s a known fact. You just have to embrace the undone look. I’m not sure why I didn’t put more thought into it, but I just can’t spend the night next to my beautiful best friend, bride-to-be, in her white dress, in this wrankly dress. So the search continues. I’ve ordered two other dresses to try, so fingers crossed for me, one of them works. Otherwise, I’m going to wear a black dress in mourning.

Now, let’s talk about life being imperfect. Exhibit A – the kid’s hand in this picture. Yeah, that’s my kid, running rampant while my husband takes pictures of me. Parenting at it’s finest.

You want some more imperfection? My husband has taken two of our animals to work with him in the last six months. Not, in a cute, take your pet to work day; in an um, the cat or dog got in the car and I didn’t realize until I got work way. The first time, it was our cat. She climbed into the back of his truck and he didn’t realize it until she crawled out while he was pulling his tools out. He took her home, all was well, and we all laughed about the day Bush went to work with him. (Yeah her name is Bush, she’s bushy.) The most recent incident was with our dog, Cha. Cha is an overweight Maltese, Chiuahua mix. I say overweight because he’s not small like you would think. You know the Doritos commercial with the white dog in a coat? That’s Cha, getting Doritos. Anyway, the other morning, my husband had to take my car to work because his truck was in the shop. Cha climbed into the back of my car, probably to eat a few leftover chicken nuggets the boys left for him. Hubby gets in and takes Cha all the way to work without even realizing it. He’s not exactly small, so I don’t even know how he didn’t notice. I ended up having to pick old Cha up at his office; he was a little shaken…I mean go in for some nugs and end up in a totally different place?! Scary situation for Mr. Cha.

Back to the dress, while I won’t be wearing it to the Bachelorette party (unless it’s my last resort), I will still be wearing it! Just in a more casual, out and about way. Maybe the next time one of my animals hitches a ride to work with my husband, I’ll wear this dress to pick them up.

LOVE the coral color of this dress, but I hear ya on the wrinkles! I just embrace them because no amount of ironing or steaming helps unfortunately. Can’t wait to see the other options you have on standby for the bachelorette party <3

I had to laugh about Cha, go get some nuggets and end up in a different place, hehe. I’m with Kate, gotta embrace the wrinkles with linen, or just stand for the rest of your life.

I so love the color and fit of that dress, but I hear you. Linen is a tough fabric to wear! I typically avoid it for that reason! Good luck finding your coral dress!
