There are a few things that just go with summer; pool days, ice cream and grilling! Of course, I’ve been lucky enough that my husband grills most nights, despite the weather, because I LOVE grilled food. Pretty much every night of the week, he grills something, and we pair it with a salad and some type of summer veggie (my all-time favorite is corn on the cob). The difference come summer is that we get to enjoy it outside too!
To me, Steven is a grill master, whatever he cooks, I almost always like. From salmon, steak, pork chops and chicken – he can grill it all. For this post I’m going to share a few of my favorite chicken and hot dog recipes, because they’re my two favorites (I’m like a kid at heart with my hot dog love).
Chicken Grilling Recipes
Although all of his grilling recipes taste fantastic, they’re all very simple! On this particular day we grabbed a bag of frozen Tyson® Boneless Skinless Chicken Thighs and Ball Park® Hot Dogs from Walmart for dinner, but we love to use fresh chicken too!
Sweet Spice Rub
- 1 tbsp paprika
- 1 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 tbsp cumin
- 1 tbsp pepper
- 1 tbsp salt
Blackened Rub
This is just your classic blackening rub, it has a little kick to it!
- 1 tsp dried thyme
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1 tsp ground red pepper
- 1 tsp pepper
- 1 tsp salt
We also use pre-made spice rubs to save time, but you can’t beat the homemade kind.
Dijon Sriracha Chicken
This recipe is my all time favorite! I request it once a week. I honestly thought it was something spectacular, but when I asked him how he makes it, I was surprised.
- 1/4 cup sriracha
- 1/4 dijon mustard
Mix together in a bag and toss chicken to coat. THAT EASY! It is so good too, trust me.
Whether he’s cooking Tyson® Boneless Skinless Chicken Thighs or Tyson® Boneless Skinless Chicken Breasts, he always cooks them slow and low – which I think is what makes it so good. He tends to go with 250 degrees on the grill for 1-2 hours depending on the weight of the meat. Be sure to use a meat thermometer to make sure the chicken is cooked to 165 degrees at least.
There are also tons of recipes on the Tyson.com website we are looking forward to trying.
Ball Park® Hot Dog Recipes
Are you a simple hotdog kind of person like me? Or, are you like Steven and like to go all out?
Cheddar Stuffed Hot Dogs
I’ve shared this recipe on the blog before, but it’s so simple and takes a hot dog from plain to wow! You simply slice the hot dog down the middle, stuff it with cheese, and grill.
Hot Dog Toppings Ideas
There aren’t tons of ways to cook a hotdog, but you can definitely go crazy with the toppings. Some of our favorite combinations:
- Classic Ketchup & Mustard
- Chili & Cheese
- Cheddar Stuffed topped with lettuce, mayo, ketchup, mustard and pickle
- Onions and Mustard
The possibilities are endless! I think it would be fun to have a hot dog topping bar at a BBQ, see what your guests can come up with!

So, while he grills, what am I doing? I’m setting the table y’all.
I can’t grill a thing, but I can put together some pretty flowers and make sweet tea. My tip for making your Lipton®, sweet tea “guilt free” make it with stevia instead of sugar.
We keep the sides simple; a fresh salad and grilled corn. I encourage my kids to eat by challenging them to a hot dog eating competition. It was all fun and games until half of the hotdog was eaten – that was all he could handle.
So whether you’re preparing dinner for your family, or hosting a BBQ this summer. I hope you find a little inspiration from this post and the recipes over on the Tyson website.
What is your favorite grilling recipe?
