If you follow a lot of fashion accounts on IG or TikTok, I’m sure you’ve seen your fair share of outfits with long wool coats. They’re beautiful, I love them – but I am just ready to see something else. In comes the variety of spring jackets! I found a few petite-friendly options that will work for different styles; whether you’re the type that likes to dress up with a blazer or trench coat, or you’re more casual and prefer an athletic look.

Petite-Friendly Spring Jackets
My Sizing: I’m 4’10” and my bust, waist, and hip measurements are 32″, 24″ and 36″. My inseam is 25″ (the measurement of the inside of my leg to my ankle bone). The clothes shown are unaltered and show how they fit me right from the store. I list my sizing beside each item to help you compare when shopping online.
Spring Blazer
When it comes to a blazer, the best overall petite fit straight from the store is from J.Crew. I have loved investing in their blazers for years. They have perfect sleeve length and a near-tailored feel through the shoulders. Their blazers are investment pieces, but the less expensive options at J.Crew Factory also have a great fit. The blazer I chose to feature in this post is the Helena Blazer, which has an overall classic fit. It comes in several colors, but I chose green to fill an empty spot in my wardrobe. I find it to be true to size, along with all of the other blazers I’ve tried at J.Crew over the years.

Denim Jacket
Let’s talk about the denim jacket – it’s a classic. Oversized styles are the most popular at the moment, but the classic fit option is still relevant (so no need to replace yours if you already have one). I chose an option from Madewell for this post. It’s slightly oversized on me, but the fit is still close enough that it will remain a closet classic for years to come. If you would like a closer fit, I would choose this one from LOFT in petite.

Trench Coat
If you love trench coats and you’re looking for a perfect petite coat – this one is it! It’s an investment piece, but it has perfect sleeve length, shoulder fit, and length overall. The hood is removable as well. I have this coat in tan and recently purchased the navy one after owning the tan one for a few years. The main difference between the two is the button color and my navy one shows lint just FYI.
I gave it my best effort to find a less expensive trench coat option to recommend and so far I haven’t found a winning option. For reference, I tried a coat from LOFT, Ann Taylor, Old Navy, Amazon, and Banana Republic Factory and they were all too big. But I’m still looking.

Bomber Jacket
A bomber jacket is something I put on my spring wishlist. It’s a style I didn’t have in my closet and is great for casual outfits. I tried a few and found the best fit in this option from LOFT. This jacket is lightweight and is fully lined. It’s true to size and also comes in black!

Rain Jacket
Sometimes you just need a practical rain jacket. I also wear my trench coat on rainy days, but I love this functional option from The North Face. I have an upcoming post comparing the fit of a few different rain jackets for petites so if you’re in the market for a new one, be sure to keep an eye out for it! This jacket doesn’t come in petite, but it fits me well in XS.
