I haven’t been doing a ton of shopping lately, but I found myself browsing J.Crew’s end of season sale a couple of weeks ago – and spotted the red version of my beloved sweater blazer. This cutie was marked down 60%, and knowing how much I love the camel version, I decided it was a worthy buy, even at final sale. But, red, although a beautiful color, can also be a funny color. It is sometimes tied to holidays, I’ve even been told before by a friend they couldn’t wear red because it reminded her too much of Christmas. Girlfriend, red isn’t just for Christmas.
Three ways to wear a red sweater blazer
With Boyfriend Jeans
I don’t wear these jeans much on the blog, but I like to think of them as my day off jeans. I wear them mostly on the days I’m just going to hang around the house and clean, but when I was thinking about this post, I couldn’t help but think about how light and refreshing the wash would be with red. Since I’m a shorty, I paired the jeans with heels to give my legs some length, and kept my top a closer fit since the jeans and the sweater are a bit oversized. In case you’re wondering I’m wearing a regular xxs in the sweater. I’ll try and be better at sharing what size I’m wearing, at a reader’s request.

With Black Distressed Denim
Y’all, I’m so short that when I stand up straight, you can’t tell the knees of these jeans are distressed, so you’ll have to take my word for it. It’s safe to say this would be a fun Valentine’s Day outfit – but don’t get too hung up on the whole red being only for holidays things. Swap out the hearts for a black or white top and you’ve got yourself a year round pretty combination.
With Navy
Red, white and blue doesn’t have to be patriotic, but there’s good reason they’re the colors of our flag – they’re beautiful together! If you ask me, this color combination is classic and perfect year round. The jeans I’m wearing in this picture come darn near to my belly button, but I think they make me look a tiny bit taller – so I wear them anyway.
