Yet, like a lot of the good things in life, the sun is both good and bad. It feels great, and makes you happy, but we all know, it’s not great for our skin. I want to protect myself from skin cancer, but I’m also trying to avoid wrinkles and sun damage. So this summer, I’ve turned to the triple threat of sun protection; sunscreen, hats and UPF clothing.
Triple Threat Sun Protection
Sunscreen
Sunscreen is a given! I wear it daily and I think it makes a difference. Well, I know it makes a difference when it comes to cutting your skin cancer risk nearly in half! I personally use Skin Resource.MD Solar Defender SPF 30. Since I wear sunscreen daily, I prefer formulas that aren’t sticky or greasy and don’t look white or ashy on my skin. Skin Resource.MD’s formula is light and silky and absorbs quickly. I don’t have any problems wearing it under my makeup. Plus, it’s gentle and free of any fragrances. I’ve been using a lot of Skin Resource.MD products over the last year and love that they’re formulated by dermatologists. Read my other posts about Skin Resource.MD here and here.
I’ve also heard of the many benefits of using antioxidants and Vitamin C on your skin to protect from free radicals and skin damage (that can come from the sun). I use Skin Resource.MD Total Antioxidant Facial Serum daily. This formula has antioxidants, vitamins, extracts, and peptides to repair and protect skin. It also has a silky feel, much like Smashbox Photo Finish Primer, so I love wearing it under my makeup.
This month you can buy Skin Resource.MD Solar Defender, Total Antioxidant Serum and Visibly Moist Toner for $45. The Visibly Moist Toner is great for adding a little hydration to dry skin before applying your moisturizers and serums. Great for skin that needs a little priming after spending time in the sun!
Hats
I use the term hats, but I literally only wear this one hat. I thought about getting a few more hats to up my collection, but then decided, why? I wear this thing to the park, in the yard, at the pool; I wear it everywhere! Wrinkles aren’t cute, but hats are!

UPF Clothing
I used sun protection as an excuse to buy myself this Lilly Pulitzer dress. Not ashamed. If you love it too, I went up one size, for a roomier fit. Although I went the Lilly route, there is a lot of UPF protective clothing out there. Some bright and beautiful dresses, tops and pants and some things that are meant for mountain excursions. Whatever your style, it doesn’t hurt to wear things that up your sun protection if you’re going to be spending a lot of time in the sun.

Then there is always finding a shady place, but if you’re anything like me, you’ll want to be in the sun. Just stay protected girlfriend.
