I don’t typically do weekend roundups, but I figured it would be fun to do one for once! This weekend was full of family, love and fun, so definitely one to share.
We started Saturday with a bunch of errands, fun right?! But, then I stumbled upon the first bunch of peonies I’ve seen this season. Y’all, all the heart eyes, peonies are my favorite!
Then we had us a little night out to celebrate Erica’s birthday. We ventured out to a rooftop restaurant, that was amazing! I wanted to see the city skyline at night, but of course it started raining before the sun went down, but still, was totally amazing.
Then we totally failed at boomerang…and may or may not have looked like total fools trying to get the perfect video for my insta story. We were planning on walking the city, but since it started to rain, we opted to drive to our next destination, which forced two grown men to ride in car seats, which of course we had to document. They looked thrilled right?!
Then Sunday, went just as planned. We started the day at church and then I ate copious amounts of my Mimi’s banana pudding. One of the highlights was my neice wearing my old Easter dress! My mom has been holding on to my Easter dress since I was little, for my one day little girl. Since I don’t have any little girls, she was really excited to have her wear the dress. Erica recently started her own blog A Waste Not Kind of Life, after embarking on a journey this year to waste less. Since then, we’ve been trying to come up with collaborative posts we can do on both of our blogs. When mom brought up the dress, Erica thought it was the perfect idea for a collaborative post. I mean what aligns better with less waste, than a dress saved for 28 years and worn again!
But first, here is me, my stylish bonnet and lace socks. Do you see the purse?! Y’all didn’t know I was stylish, even back then. Oh and my mom’s shoes…the best, especially with the white tights!
Now, miss A.
Taking pictures of her was a struggle! As with any toddler, she is a busy little bee, who was more interested in playing with her cousins than taking pics.
I was actually really surprised how well this dress held up. When my mom first brought it up, I was like mom, that thing is probably so old and yellow by now. But, she kept it in plastic and nearly 28 years later, this little dress looked just like it did, the day I wore it.
I’m still holding on to the dress, just in case I ever get brave enough to have just one more baby and that baby happens to be a little girl. Or, of course, if Erica has another little girl and she too can wear this very same dress. You’ll have to visit Erica at A Waste Not Kind of Life to read her part of the story. π
