Wide-leg jeans and trousers are high on the trend list season and I’m often asked how I feel about them for Petites. I’ll never tell you not to wear something – if you feel good in it, go for it! Personally, I feel the best in a pair of wide-leg pants or jeans that are still on the slimmer side and well fitted around the waist and hips. Slouchy is trendy as well, but being petite, I’ve lived my whole life in clothes that are a little too big and slouchy so it just doesn’t feel right to me. I also like the way they look with heels or a heeled boot v. flat shoes. It’s definitely trendy to wear them with flats, but the heels just help give a little more length. For today’s post, I’m styling a pair of wide-leg trousers four ways for work.

Petite-Friendly Wide Leg Pants Four Ways
Sizing Reference: I’m 4’10” and around 105lbs. I share my sizing beside each link to help you compare.
The pants in this post are made from soft ponte, and they drape beautifully. They also don’t wrinkle easily. I’m wearing them in Petite 2, and they fit me well overall – but they are too long for me to wear with flats, they’re heels only pants (but like I said, I prefer that). They come in a few other colors as well.
With a Crewneck Sweater
I think the key to not drowning in a pair of wide-leg pants when you’re petite is by creating balance at the top. I keep my tops slim and always all the way tucked in. You could add a camel topcoat with this outfit when the weather cools.

With a Cardigan
I’ll be including this cardigan in my capsule wardrobe (for both casual and work). It’s one of those things that looks great on its own, but also layers so you can get a lot of wear out of it.

With a Blazer
I like opting for a blazer with a slim fit to keep this outfit from drowning me. The J.Crew Parke blazer is my favorite, but you may like this less expensive option. For the Parke blazer, it is true to size, for me that’s Petite 00.

With a Printed Top
Neutrals are great, but I will always love a pretty print. This top from J.Crew Factory is fully lined which I love. I’m wearing it in Petite XXS and it fits me well overall. You could also wear a pretty trench coat on top of this.

Overall, I like the wide-leg trend and definitely think you can pull it off, even if you’re petite!
