I promised you a summer capsule wardrobe for work, but the items I was putting in the capsule kept selling out over and over again. So, I threw in the towel on that post and instead created a post with some of the neutral items I was going to include in that capsule. This post doesn’t have multiple outfit ideas, but these versatile things can be mixed into many different outfits.
Petite-Friendly Neutral Outfits for Work
Navy Pants
Although I will wear other styles of work pants, a skinny pair is still my favorite to wear. I feel the best in them when layering with cardigans and blazers. In this outfit, the J.Crew Factory pants run a little snug, so I sized up to Petite 0. The cardigan is an Amazon find that fits me well in my true size, XS. I’m wearing a sleeveless white top under the cardigan to keep this outfit cool.

Light Dress
I’ve been sitting on this post for a couple of weeks, and this dress has slimmed in stock. However, if you’re looking for a petite-friendly dress that wears well to work, check out the other dresses at Ann Taylor. They are typically true to size for me (Petite XXS). This dress, if you’re able to snag your size is true to size, lined, and beautifully made.

Spanx Pants
Don’t come for me for wearing a sweater in the summer heat. I’m cold-natured, and this sweater is light (perfect for an air-conditioned office). However, you may prefer this short-sleeve neutral option instead. The pants are the white pants from Spanx that promise to not be see-through. They’re pricey but I had to see if they lived up to their hype. The verdict – they do! You can wear brightly colored underwear with these and you won’t see them at all. They run true to size (a tiny bit snug on me in Petite XS) and have Spanx compression. I chose the flared pair, but the bell at the bottom is a little on the large side. If I had to do it all over again, I would opt for the straight pair since they’re more classic and will stay in your closet rotation for years. Pleated Skirt
I should start referring to this skirt as THE pleated skirt. The one pleated skirt from Amazon that fits so well and comes in so many color options, I also have it in black, red, and olive. I’m wearing it in XS and it fits me well and is fully lined.

I really do feel bad the capsule post seemed to just fall apart, but I’m not giving up all together. I may still be able to pull it off this month and if not, I’ll be sure to share more summer work outfits for you.
