Lately I’ve been thinking about how blogging has improved my life for the better. Aside from making a little income doing something I love, what I’m talking about here are the fringe benefits of blogging.
Blogging challenges me, daily. I am forced to write, I shouldn’t say forced, because I like to write, but blogging gives me a lot of practice at being a better writer. Blogging constantly pushes me to be more creative and to learn more skills. Whether I’m mastering using my digital camera, struggling through web design or learning how to use the fancy tools of Photoshop, blogging creates the opportunity for me to learn these new skills.
We’re currently building a new house, something that requires me to choose every little tiny detail from the color of the shingles to the color of the cabinet pulls and it both scares me and excites me. If it wasn’t for blogging and browsing the blogs of fabulous women across the globe, I wouldn’t be inspired by their fabulous taste. So, thank you fellow bloggers, for inadvertently making my new house more beautiful.
I also like to think my closet is prettier because of blogging. I don’t necessarily buy more than I used to, but because of the piece of blogging that is blog browsing, I have been introduced to brands that I didn’t know of and styles that aren’t as prevalent in my area. With that inspiration, I try new things and step out of my fashion box from time to time, which is fun.
Blogging comes with friends. If there’s ever a down day, a quick browse of recent blog comments is sure to pick me up. I mean seriously, the wonderful and positive compliments that my fellow bloggers share not only on my blog, but the many blogs I visit, always puts a smile on my face. Compliments are powerful, especially in large quantities.

That is a wonderful way of viewing blogging too. I’ve learned a hell of a lot myself and am still learning as I go (especially when it comes to social media which just seems to keep growing). It’s been a lot of fun though and had I not been here blogging I don’t think I’d have half the smarts as I do now.
