Hi! I’m Brooke Anderson
the petite (4’10”) blogger behind Pumps & Push-Ups.
I’m married to my high school sweetheart and a mom of two boys (and four cats). I love a good book and being in bed before 9pm,
but most of all I love spending time with my family and friends.

How it Started
I started Pumps & Push-Ups in 2013 as a creative space to share a blend of my fitness journey as a new mom and my daily outfits. What started as a hobby evolved over the years and while the original name remains –
what I share here has changed.
In 2020, after seven years of writing and creating for Pumps & Push-Ups – I felt stuck. I loved sharing outfit ideas – but being 4‘10” and much shorter than many of the popular creators of that time, I felt like I would never stand out (or even fit in). I felt underrepresented in the fashion world – not just online, but also by brands I loved – that were continually pulling their petites out of the store. So, I shifted to creating posts I wanted to see – styling advice and shoppable pieces specifically for petites (especially those under 5’ like me). In January 2020 I made my first style video and posted it to what was then IGtv and Pinterest. What I found was that there were many petite women just like me who appreciated seeing outfits on someone their size. With that – Pumps & Push-Ups blossomed.
Pumps & Push-Ups today is a petite shopping destination. I search high and low for the best petite finds and give them thorough reviews to save you the time shopping and returning. While I find quite a few options for petites, most of them are only available online.
So my goal is to give you as much information about the fit, feel, and quality of each piece so you can make an informed purchase you’ll love.
You’ll find my petite picks in daily outfit blog posts and videos that mix active, casual, occasion, and workwear.
My selections are a range of price points with an overall focus on quality pieces that are well proportioned for petites.
In addition to searching for a petite-friendly fit, I have a love of curating a classic wardrobe you can wear for years to come. To get the most out of your petite finds, I share posts with multiple ways to wear one item, as well as restyle the pieces I share throughout my posts.
Each season I create casual and workwear capsule wardrobes for mix and match wardrobe foundations you can build from.

So whether you’re looking for a petite-friendly dress for your next event or the perfect pair of no-hem jeans – I’m glad you’re here – let’s find the perfect fit together!

FAQ
-
I share my measurements and weight at the top of every blog post for reference. Weight can be a good point of comparison but I find the measurements to be of more value when comparing fit.
My Sizing: I’m 4’10”, and my bust, waist, and hip measurements are 32″, 24″, and 36″. I’m pear shaped.
-
My inseam is 25″ to my ankle bone. I look for the following inseam measurements by style:
Cropped/Ankle: 24-25”
Full Straight: 26-28” (28” is for a bunchy look that is currently on-trend)
Full Wide: 27.5-28” (29” with heels)
Full Flare: 27.5-28” (29” with heels) -
By my measurements I’m equally proportionate. I’m short all over, but I don’t have a long/short torso or long/short legs in proportion to the rest of me. Since proportions vary I provide measurements. I have many conversations with women who are a couple of inches taller than me, but still have a shorter inseam. If that is you, don’t be discouraged, I find pants and jeans with inseams as short as 23-24” from the store so while one option I share may not work for you, I often will have another option for you.

I wear a size 5 shoe. Until I had children I wore a size 4.5 – but child bearing gave me the gift of slightly bigger feet. I buy all of my shoes online, finding that most brands rarely carry the size 5 in store but a size 5 is available from nearly all of them. For under size 5 I always recommend going to Nordstrom. In store you can even ask them specifically to bring out the size 4.5 items they have. Online some of my favorite brands are:

I shop all over for petite finds with a goal of offering as many options as I can for you. Some of my favorite brands I shop from are:
-
My goal is to share as many petite-friendly finds as I can to offer up options for you. I write for a wide audience and would never expect one reader to buy everything I share, but rather use my posts as a guide to find what you need.
With items regularly coming into my closet you can imagine this ends up being way more clothes than one person needs or can wear, but is part of what I do. I hold on to all of the staple items that I can restyle for you season after season but to keep organization under control I frequently donate clothing and sell some of the pieces on Poshmark.

I love being active, but I no longer share fitness advice.

For many years I have worked out at home using fitness apps like Beachbody, Tone It Up, and Moms Into Fitness. I have followed programs at times but over the last year I have come to love a daily 1-2 mile walk and three days a week of weight training with an at-home program. My current favorite app is Moms Into Fitness because it is focused on gentle exercise that works well for me in my late 30s. I was once in love with an intense workout, running, and heavy weight lifting – but my back and hips are now paying the price. So I prefer gentle activity instead.

I use a 1” curling iron and make vertical curls and brush it out. I have fine, thin hair and love using Living Proof Full Shampoo & Conditioner. Plus a little spray of Perfect Hair Day Dry Shampoo on my curls before I brush them out.
I love hearing from you.
