I have this constant battle with myself with wanting to get dressed up, but also just wanting to be comfortable. Comfort wins 9 times out of 10, the mom life requires it. You need to be quick, nimble, and adapt to any situation – like your kid dumping an entire box of crayons on the floor at Target. “It’ll be fun taking the boys school shopping,” I thought as I chased rolling crayons across the floor.
My Favorite Mom Friendly Outfit Pieces
So, I try to find things that are both cute and comfortable, so I can feel put together, but still stay on my toes. Here’s what makes up my favorite mom friendly outfits:
Jeans
Oh man I live for a pair of jeans. I would rather wear jeans than anything else, even in the middle of summer. What makes one pair more mom friendly than the next is how well you can move in them. If they’re too tight, or too low (so your butt crack pops out when you bend down) they’re not the most mom friendly pair you can wear.
Personally, I go for a pair with a nice amount of stretch, a high rise, and the ability to accommodate my curves. I’ve written a few posts about where I love to buy jeans, but currently my favorites have been coming from Madewell.
Wedge Sneakers
Whoever came up with wedge sneakers was a genius. This pair in particular really tickles me. They have a wedge without looking strange, if you know what I mean. Why do I love a wedge more than the equally cute flat version of these shoes? The wedge gives you a flattering height lift that elongates the legs, and changes your posture. Plus, this pair has an almond toe that is also really flattering and slimming to the leg.
Extra Cute Tees
I love a good tee, I love it even more when it’s extra. Sometimes that extra is a little pocket, sometimes it’s a print, other times it’s ruffles, eyelets and all. If it’s cotton, washes well and wears well – I’m here for it. I also like to half tuck my tees, it gives the outfit just a little more style, and it also flatters my petite frame. My favorite and longest lasting tees are from Old Navy.

Accessories
Of course, every outfit is made even more put together with a few accessories. I’m a sucker for a fun pair of earrings, or a bracelet. I used to love longer necklaces, but they always got caught on things when I was getting the boys out of the car, or picking them up, so I prefer shorter, simpler necklaces these days.
