Black jeans are always a big part of my fall wardrobe, so when I start thinking about making that seasonal transition, I think about those black jeans. I love my classic skinnies, but I also love some of the trendier straight-leg and cropped flare styles. Today I’m sharing two pairs, one skinny, and one cropped flare, styled a few different ways for now and later.
8 Ways to Wear Black Jeans
Black Jeggings
I’ll start with a classic pair of skinny jeans that are affordable and comfortable. They have a low-mid rise, which I know many of you will appreciate! They’re also stretchy and easy to move around in. I wear them in 0 X-Short.
With a Sweater Tank Top
The first top I paired the jeggings with is a sweater tank top from Target. It fits me well in XS, even in the armholes! It is see-through in the crochet parts, but it’s not intense enough that you have to wear something under it. I personally put a cami on underneath it.

With a Peplum Top
I styled this top on Instagram six ways for now and later and many of you loved it as much as I do. It’s one of those comfortable tops that is easy to throw on but is still a little more than a basic t-shirt. Plus, it’s wash-and-wear, no ironing or steaming is needed! It also comes in other colors that I’m tempted to pick up based on how many times I’ve already worn this top.

All Black + Chambray
I’m currently working on putting together a casual workwear capsule that is teacher-friendly. I want everything I put in it to be affordable so while I already have a chambray top from J.Crew, I ordered this one from Walmart to see if it could be an affordable option I can include. This top is more oversized than the chambray top I already have, but I actually love the oversized fit and feel like it fits a different need in my closet. This one has a nice long length that you could wear over leggings, or add as a topper as I have here, but it also works great tucked in and fully buttoned up. The fabric and construction of the top are just as nice as my J.Crew top, so I think it’s definitely a great affordable option. I’m wearing it in XS.

Cropped Flare Jeans
I recently bought two pairs of cropped flare jeans from J.Crew that I can’t stop wearing – yes even in the summer heat. I bought this charcoal color and dark denim that I wore in this post. I sized up to Petite 25 in the charcoal pair. They’re mid-rise and really comfortable, plus since they’re charcoal, they’re easy to wear now with a pair of sandals and still look like summer.
With a Cardigan
I wore this exact outfit to church today. I kept the sweater on through church and took it off later when we went out to lunch and just wore the black tee and jeans. The black tee is from Target. If you’re looking for a great t-shirt with a classic length, Target is where it’s at. I personally love the tees from A New Day and have them in both v-neck and crewneck. The sweater is also from Target and ended up being a great length on me. It’s cozy and slightly oversized without being too long.

With a Tank Top
The next two are similar ideas, so I’m just going to write about them both here. These jeans look great with a simple tank top and sandals. I’ve been wearing them just like this lately. As it cools down you can add a chambray top, cardigan, or utility jacket easily!
