We tip-toed carefully through the garden, magnifying glasses in hand, watching closely for butterflies feeding on the ground. If you stood still enough, you were lucky to have a butterfly or two land right on you. However, for the most part, the butterflies were constantly in motion. Fluttering here and there, it was difficult to capture a picture of them, but the experience was one of a kind.
We saw one giant moth, a few baby butterflies and learned that butterflies are attracted to the smell of children’s shampoo! We also learned that butterflies are pollinators, like bees and love to feed off of rotten fruit.
It was a day well spent, chasing our littles through sunlit paths and taking in the beauty of butterflies and bright summer blooms. Let the adventures continue.

What a fun time!! I adore butterflies and once went to a conservatory on Mackinaw Island. I bet the kids had a ball with their awesome mamas!!
We saw a few butterflies up close on our recent trip to the zoo and they had this exhibit of the caterpillar going through all the stages of becoming a butterfly – it was so cool! xo, biana –BlovedBoston

I bet that is a magical place especially for the youngsters!! We have one in our city, but I’ve never been there—it’s on my list though!

One of my boys’ favorite activities when they were younger! The butterflies loved to land in my hair – I think because it was blond? I was usually walking around with 4 or 5 at a time.
