Sweaters, boots and jewel tones; fall is in the air and September is the perfect time to start stocking up for beautiful cooler weather! I for one have always loved the fall, I love the crisp weather, the fun activities but most of all, I love the comfy fabrics and deep hues of fall. If you haven’t built your wardrobe yet, take a look at what is on my wish list for a little inspiration:

60’s mod: Great boxy jackets, mini skirt and jacket sets and shift dresses. The clean chic lines of the 60’s are making a comeback in the fall. My personal favorite styles are shift dresses and cropped jackets! You can transition minis and shift dresses with tights, boots and booties as well as throwing a button down under your short sleeve dresses.

Sweaters: Of course I will always love a classic cardigan or crew neck, but in terms of trending this year, we are looking at a three things; printed, roomy and cropped. Not necessarily all at once of course.
Prints: Prints were spotted all over the runway for the fall/winter season from Tory Burch to J. Crew. Keep it chic by choosing prints with just a few colors.
Cropped: The crop is coming over from the spring with an update. Layer a cropped sweater with a button down to give a classic look a twist. The cropped sweater also looks great with a high waist skirt or pants, just like their spring/summer counterpart.
Roomy: Borrowed from your boyfriend and perfect for pairing with leggings or skinnies, roomy sweaters are back this season. Spice it up by layering a chunky sweater with a chic pencil skirt and polished hair.

Colors and Prints: Jewel tones are typical for Fall but if there was an “it” color for the season it would be red. Think accessories, a red bag, red flats or great red earrings, this beautiful pop of color looks fabulous against the also popular prints; plaid and leopard as well as neutrals like camel, navy and black. I mentioned plaid, if you don’t already have something in plaid, add it to your closet. A great, plaid flannel looks awesome under a navy vest, or tucked into a pencil skirt (my favorite, can you tell). Plaid pumps, clutches, pants, jackets, it’s everywhere!

Shoes: Boots, booties, ballet flats and the classic pump. On my wish list, for casual days, I’m seeking a neutral bootie in tan that I can wear with a pair of skinnies and pop of color ballet flats; for the office I’m on the hunt for dressed up black booties to wear with tights and plaid pumps to wear with pants (of course adding this to my neutral collection of pumps). If you’re feeling brave, you could also rock the thigh high or knee high socks with a mini and pumps trend, but that style wouldn’t look the best on me.

Of course, trends are trends, just because something is popular doesn’t mean you need to follow it, take what’s trending and make it your own! Tell me what’s on your wish list ladies!
