If I’m going to step away from traditional black and navy pants for work, I often go with another dark color. For fall, I love dark olive, burgundy, gold – and purple as a nice break. If you ever get stuck thinking white or a printed top in the same color is your only choice with a color of pants other than black, this post is for you. I’m sharing four different color combinations with a pair of dark purple pants.

Four Color Combinations with Dark Purple Pants
My Sizing: I’m 4’10” and my bust, waist, and hip measurements are 32″, 24″ and 36″. My typical inseam is 24-25″. The clothes shown are unaltered and show how they fit me right from the store. I list my sizing beside each item to help you compare when shopping online. Unless otherwise noted, I find each item to run true to size.
Dark Purple Pants
I’ll start by reviewing the pants. They’re the same crepe side-zip pants from Ann Taylor that I have in cream and regularly rave about. They’re true to size and have a silky lining that is forgiving and comfortable to wear. The fabric also doesn’t wrinkle easily and is very easy to wear.
Cream/White
I’m going to go ahead and admit the color of this top and blazer really had me second-guessing my color identification skills. At first, I wanted to say taupe – it’s kind of taupe, but definitely a light taupe. It also leans a little toward cream. So I’ll leave interpretation up to you and say purple pants look great with a nice light neutral like white, cream, light taupe, and beige.

Camel
Camel is a gorgeous neutral that goes great with many different colors, especially the rich colors of fall. Another way I would combine this is with a white top as a base and a camel blazer or cardigan.

Black
Black is often an easy pairing. My exact top is from Ann Taylor, but is unfortunately sold out. I’m linking another option from Ann Taylor that has short sleeves.

Navy
I went for a striped navy top, but a solid navy top also looks pretty with dark purple. The top in this outfit is oversized and tunic length. You can still tuck it and pull it out for an oversized look, but I also love wearing it untucked over slim bottoms.
